So can you Greeks tell me about it? Is nudity & sex scenes very common in Greek ads, movies,TV shows, documentaries, music videos etc? How are Greek attitudes towards nudity? Because I found this: Ban on Greek Big Brother overturned Contestants are filmed 24 hours a day A move to outlaw two popular TV reality shows, including Big Brother, in Greece has been blocked. The president of the National Council for Radio and Television, Vasillis Lambridis, pulled the shows off air claiming they overstepped the boundaries of public decency. But his decision to suspend the shows was not supported by the rest of the television watchdog, which voted 8-1 to allow them to continue broadcasting. But as a compromise the members recommended the shows be moved from their 2200 timeslot to after midnight. A five-hour meeting was held by the television watchdog agency to discuss the content of the Greek Big Brother and The Bar. Nudity and sex "I am not here to ban things." said agency member Sofia Voultepsi after the decision. Both shows have come under intense scrutiny because they have featured nudity and alluded to sex as the contestants are constantly filmed. Antenna screens Big Brother, in which 14 contestants live for 112 days in a house filled with cameras and microphones following their every move. One by one, the television and Internet audience vote them off the show. The last one to leave receives a prize of about £90,000. Mega has The Bar, where 14 contestants live together in an Athens apartment next to a bar they must run for 14 weeks. Every week a contestant is voted off the show with the last one winning 150,000 euros (£92,600). Both locations are also filled with cameras and microphones. Both networks accused Mr Lambridis of attacking freedom of speech. 'Degrading' The shows have been criticised by politicians, academics and religious leaders who believe they degrade the contestants and corrode family values, but few have demanded the programmes be taken off the air. The shows are relatively tame compared with Greece's lurid soap operas, late-night soft porn movies and partial nudity in advertising. Greek Orthodox Church leader Archbishop Christodoulos called for people to "pray for the young kids" on the shows and urged followers to "turn off our sets". Separately, authorities in Turkey on Thursday ordered a channel off the air for six days for broadcasting a Big Brother-like show deemed offensive to traditional family values. Late night Soft porn? Tell me about it!

Its not about nudity and sex, is about Trash TV and we have plenty of it... Private channels take out in the air people with problems, insecurites, dyslexia etc etc (almost retarted!) and let them humiliate in front of the eyes of public opinion
There is a need for a Public organization that controls Trash TV programs and there is one (EÓÑ) that time to time fines them. It just need more fines. Private channel just manipulate the "freedom of expression" syndrom to humiliate people who are.... not so smart... lets say..

I am not a Big Brother-like shows fan but people watch such things. And when people watch them, this means money is involved. So for making bigger profits these shows try to present different characters which sometimes is very close to extremely bad taste, like the Bulgarian BB at the moment when they had a blind woman in the house. She simply didn't belong to a place like this.

This Big Brother thing is somehow becoming a problem even in Albania. There are some scenes there that people feel embarrassed to see with children nearby ...not to mention some degrading movies broadcasting in Albania some years ago, such as Basic Instinct, at 02:00 pm!!!

Seems like Greek media has changed a lot since the time I was there. Back then you couldn't see any nudity or adult movies even after midnight. That was probably because the big channels, MEGA and Ant1 were in their beginnings and didn't want to introduce themselves as some italian private channels like Tele Norba that were all about adult movies after midnight and sometimes during the day. Porn industry is one of the most profitable industries, at least here in USA. It was strange, because once they even advised people to invest to these companies in stock market, since as they said is a multi-billion dollar industry and high profitable. Sex sells, nothing you can do about it, but airing adult movies at the time when kids might be around, I don't think it's a good idea, if we want to not introduce the kids to something that they do not even understand and most of the time in their eyes is an act of violence, which is not of course...

LOL!!!!!
I remember back in 95, I woke up one morning on a Saturday and turned on the TV only to see a large breasted chick rubbing her breasts together...
... I think thats when I realized I liked women...
My dad saw it and started laughing hysterically while my mom freaked out and told me to turn it off...

This is what wikipedia says about Greece's pornography laws. Softcore magazines, calendars, and decks of cards are sold openly at roadside kiosks and tourist shops. Extreme or graphic pornography is generally restricted to adults or X-rated. Apart from that, there are no other restrictions to pornography distribution and possession, while the law stating than hardcore pornography is to be supplied only to adults is frequently ignored and rarely enforced. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pornography_laws#GreeceAnyways, I wouldn't call all nudity and sex in television pornography. I'm more worried about children's desensitization to violence than sex. The more sexually repressed a country is the more sexual fanatics you get. China is the world's biggest consumer of porn yet the irony is that its illegal in China.

the first clip? errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr............................... Its very HOT,it gave an e..... rush. Erm.....you know karta I appreciate you showing me these, but I mostly would like to know what you guys have to say.Want your perspectives and facts. So getting turned on is the last thing I need, especially since I am very "sensitive",if only I could switch it off. And ticalosul,I would say nudity and sex is porn, well there can be exceptions to nudity.Because those two make people horny.

por·nog·ra·phy
Pronunciation: \-fē\
Function: noun
Etymology:
Greek pornographos, adjective, writing about prostitutes, from pornē prostitute + graphein to write; akin to Greek pernanai to sell, poros journey — more at fare, carve Date:1858
1 : the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement
2 : material (as books or a photograph) that depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement
3 : the depiction of acts in a sensational manner so as to arouse a quick intense emotional reaction <the pornography of violence>
OK, maybe sex in television can be called pornography if its intended to cause sexual excitement. But what I meant is that there's nothing wrong with soft core sex scenes on television. The more puritan a society is about sex the more sexual fanatics it usually has.

^^^ true...but puritan places like yemen or saudi arabia...leave the " elite " enjoying themselves while preaching to people about abtinence and purity ;D www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/11/03/teen.pregnancy/index.html^^^Not too mention it leads young teens to pregnancy...which i totally believe now....cause they think its cool to screw ( which it is...the only problem is junior cant pinch & pull in time )

expatriot, its not cool to screw, its fun, well, not all the time.It depends.
But the link you gave,I kinda agree with it.There's alot of erotica/soft porn on tv,and that arouses people. So you'd wanna have sex.
and ticalosul,I think with nudity and sex, even if it is not INTENDED to cause sexual excitement,it still does or can cause it.
Cuz those are things that do.
So.....it is pornographic!
