"Yeah 5000 (or was it 100000 ? ) according to hunor.magyar.centreoftheuniverse.com sites." this one frustrated twerp.. www.mcmlove.nl/english/articles/hungarian/bowring.htm - 7k The Hungarian Language by Sir John Bowring The English philologist, Sir John Bowring (1792-1872), spoke many languages: Hungarian was one of them. He translated many Hungarian poems into English, and issued a literary chrestomathy. In its foreword he wrote the following: The Hungarian language goes far back. It developed in a very peculiar manner and its structure reaches back to times when most of the now spoken European languages did not even exist. It is a language which developed steadily and firmly in itself, and in which there are logic and mathematics with the adaptability and malleability of strength and chors. The Englishman should be proud that his language indicates an opic of human history. One can show forth its origin; and all layers can be distinguished in it, which gathered together during contacts with different nations. Whereas the Hungarian language is like a rubble-stone, consisting of only one piece, on which the storms of time left not a scratch. It's not a calendar that adjusts to the changes of the ages. It needs no one, it doesn't borrow, does no bucksterint, and doesn't give or take from anyone. This language is the oldest and most glorious monument of national sovereignity and mental independence. What scholars cannot solve, they ignore. In philology it's the same way as in archeology. The floors of the old Egyptian temples, which were made out of only one rock, can't be explained. No one knows where they came from, or from which mountain the wondrous mass was taken. How they were transported and lifted to the top of the temples. The genuineness of the Hungarian language is a phenomenon much more wondrous than this. He who solves it shall be analyzing the Divine secret; in fact the first thesis of this secret: the jealousy of an indoctrinated ROMA-nian

Linguistics has come a long way since 150 years ago, how about quoting a modern linguist? How can you prove Hungarian is older than European languages- you can't. Hungarian did borrow many words from different languages- Turkic, Persian, Slavic, German, and Romanian.

It has an almost a religious dimension for Hungarian forum inhabitants and its repeated like a mantra. Its clearly that the text has no scientific value whatsoever and was written for expressing the author`s courtesy and personal preferences in a poetic and conceited language. Although it fits very well for those who are hooking up on the smallest things that would further bloat their already over inflated ego.

"hooking up on the smallest things"
I don't think the language of a nation is the "smallest of things" especially when you gypsies continually brag about your latin language...even though it was artificially latinized less than 150 yrs. ago.
lol...typical envious frustrated reply

Almost the entire substratum (the most commonly used words) in Romanian are of Latin origin. The superstratum (words used to express more abstract ideas) consists most of slavic and French loan words. Romanian is still a Latin language in substratum and grammar.
English has a Germanic substratum and a Latin superstratum- does that make it a Latin language? The first people to prove that Romanian is a neo-Latin language were not Romanians themselves but French and Italian linguists.
Yes Romanian used a Latin model for the neologisms it introduced into the language. So what? Romanian is a Latin language. Hungarians used Hungarian roots to create new words for neologisms- it's the same thing.

"hooking up on the smallest things" Nobody said that, but it seems that doesnt stop you to use your childish straw man . "Smalles things" its not the language, but the disperation of trying to gain a moral superiority by quoting non-scientific, subjective poetic and conceited texts You would be amazed how almost identical to 2008 Romanian language is Neacsu`s letter from 1521. But thats for someone who is really interested for those things, not just for childish rantings.

"quoting non-scientific, subjective poetic and conceited texts
I believe "philology" is a science...and Sir Bowring was a knighted English scholar....lol. You are quite an envious, frustrated s**t aren't you, jealousy is really unbecoming.
"Although it fits very well for those who are hooking up on the smallest things "
"Nobody said that, "
lol...you're right...you are nobody, just a pathetic frustrated cigany
"You would be amazed how almost identical to 2008 Romanian language is Neacsu`s letter from 1521."
yea I am amazed at what a inept buffoon you are....lol, I didn't know you gypsies still used the cyrillic alphabet in 2009, or that there was a ROMA-nia or ROMA-nian language in 1521.
Give it up mr.olah you can't make something out of nothing, and your ROMA-nia is definitely nothing.

I believe "philology" is a science...and Sir Bowring was a knighted English scholar....lol. You see there is a reason why that quote its given only by a particular segment of Hungarian forum posters. Philology is science, but Poetry its not. What alphabet has to do with the language itself ? In Republic of Moldova the soviets forced the Cyrillic alphabet untill 1989. That doesnt mean the language wasnt Romanian or didnt sound Romanian. Your lack of culture its not my concern.

Idiot cigany...nothing was forced on you. all vlachs used the cyrillic alphabet 150 yrs. ago, there were no Soviets then. You are quite ignorant even about your own history.

Is funny how always discussions with szorostalpu turn out : From my post made by 9 quotes and 9 replies just above, after 3 other posts, all he is able to answer is a 2 lines post containing the academic philosophical debate arguments : idiot cigany. Have you ever considered to follow an oratory career ? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now, ofcourse the reply will be like something like " lol cigany , you dont know know nothing , lol gypsy , lol lol , i put you in a corner with my brilliant skills, you are out of arguments lol" What arguments , those kind of arguments ? A straw man argument is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position. To "set up a straw man," one describes a position that superficially resembles an opponent's actual view, yet is easier to refute But lets better see a usual szorostalpu style example In Republic of Moldova the soviets forced the Cyrillic alphabet untill 1989. That doesnt mean the language wasnt Romanian or didnt sound Romanian. Inothing was forced on you. all vlachs used the cyrillic alphabet 150 yrs. ago, there were no Soviets. You are quite ignorant even about your own history Although in the case of szorostalpu i`m afraid that is not even strawman , just the lack of capacity to follow the discussion. PS szorostalpu, if you didn't understand the examples above, let me know, i will draw it in Paint to ease your understanding.

You are quite a lame brain...before I state "idiot cigany" I also proove you wrong. But it is amusing how you try to divert attention from your ignorant blunders. Oh please enlighten us again how the Soviets forced the cyrillic alphabet on you poor lowely vlachs 150 yrs. ago, or that philology is not a science.
yeah a "crime is a crime"......the only crime here is your pathetic sorrowfull remarks . I guess you were last in line when the orphanages handed out brains. Did your mother know how to read or write when she gave you up?

But it is amusing how you try to divert attention from your ignorant blunders. Oh please enlighten us again how the Soviets forced the cyrillic alphabet on you poor lowely vlachs 150 yrs. ago, As i expected, indeed you had problems compiling the new info. But i promised to help you with a drawing -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, the next part of the post its not even a informal fallacy, its just plain inability to actually take part in an argumentation. Philology is science, but Poetry its not. then later your reply Oh please enlighten us again how [........] or that philology is not a science. Are you for real ? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The posts ends with another informal fallacy type : "ad hominem" Ad hominem argument consists of criticizing or attacking the person who proposed the argument (personal attack) in an attempt to discredit the argument So basically all this post`s structure (and others too) is : straw man + plain misinformation + ad hominem + insults. Keep up the good work, your skillful rhetoric will put in to a corner even the most famous philosophers.

you're the one that said your romanian language hasn't changed since 1561.. I didnt said that. You just did. As always. All i just said is that Neacsu`s letter, even its writen in Cyrillic, its very close to today`s form. An alphabet its not an language its just a tool. Romanian words can be writen in cyrilic, in latin , in arabic in whatever, they remain Romanian words. The very good example was the one with Republic of Moldova. Being part of the Soviet Union they wrote in cyrilic untill 1989, that doesnt changed the fact that the language was Romanian. See above. The way to represent the sounds, has nothing to do with the language itself. 40 what ? 40% ? So half of Romanian is French ? So those French classes in schools that lasts years and years are a scam, we already know French. Oh man , do you ever filter trough logic your sources ? is......tigan.....lol.....Magyar crap Yes, your rhetoric is impeccable as always.

Go google the article retard...or are you afraid? You are quite lame, take your "strawman" and your pathetic attempts at sarcastic wit and shove them all up your mothers ass, once you find her. You've lost yet another...give it up, you can't make something out of nothing. Face the facts.. "roumania"....fake history...fake language..fake country

Am I dealing with an alzheimers patient here...hahahaha There is a huge difference betwen almost identical and identical. But don't let this kind of subtlety bother you. We are here to cuss, not to discuss anyway, right ? Anyway : Unlike the first documents of other languages, such as book Capuana for Italian, or at les serments de Strasbourg for the French - texts differing much of the language spoken, and in time - the language of the letter is very little different from the Romanian spoken today. Exceptions are only introducing formulas and end the message to be sentClear, concise, race, language expression in his letter Neacşu is due and Latin elements. Latin Fund, which shows linguists dealing with statistics, is 92.31%, with an absolute frequency of 89.47%. Heh typical. It doesnt matter if the article defies any basic logic, he will cling on him in to oblivion. I already asked a simple question: Do you realise what 40% of the language means ? Its half of the language Einstein. And it would make Romanians almost French native speakers. You have a quite big emotional stress luggage. After your obvious gypsy fetish, from your last posts it seems you developed an Oedipus complex too. Oh its real alright. Painfully real for some people like szorostalpu
