apart from that one I mentioned above that lasted 5 years. Maybe not so decent after all I definitely have an accent. I migrated when I was 15 and before that I lived in germany from my 8th year of age. the accent does not really bother me. Everone always asks me if I am russian. Never have I been asked if I am from balkans/ex jug.

I was already an adult when I came to the States, but I picked up English very fast and have only a hint of an accent, enough for people to notice though. It works wonders with the Ladies im not gonna lie ;D However on the rare occasions when I get totally drunk, my English starts breaking down and more and more of our own language starts mixing in. My sister and me speak what we call CroGerglish with each other We will use Croatian, German and English in the same sentence, and very fast, its impossible for most people to understand even a fraction of what we say.

Everyone knows I was born in Australia and English was my first language and was mostly spoken everywhere; however people ask me "where are you from, you have abit of an accent"?. Go figure. I'm the opposite. Came to Australia at the age of 10 and have no accent whatsoever. Most people are shocked when I tell them I'm an immigrant. I don't speak like a bogan though (thank god), just clear Aussie. The best accent I've heard was from a Serbian woman once. She was clearly a recent immigrant and the way she struggled with English was really sexy. Loved it.

I speak quite a lot of languages, and I speak them all, except French, with an accent. Like, when I speak Danish I don't exactly sound like an ethnic Dane (even though I was born in Denmark). Or when I speak Arabic I have a Danish accent when I speak it. Same with Persian.
As I mentioned, it's only when I speak French that I don't really have an accent. Which is weird because I haven't grown up with French whatsoever like I've grown up with the other languages that I do speak with an accent.
