Sorry Edlund, you already said that Dobrotitsa is pron. DobrOtitsa in the Immenik. So all the common words: dobrota, krasota are with final stress How were/are Dragota stressed according to the Imennik? drAgota or dragotA? In Rom it's DrAgotã "A form "Dobrota" is not mentioned. "Dobrotica" is mentioned and the author says it comes from "Dobrota". I checked the names starting with "d" and found male names Debrota (comes from "debri" - woods), Devota (comes from "deva" - virgin), Divota (comes from "divota" - beauty), Dragota (from "drag" - dear), I found male names ending on -ica - Delica, Dobrica, Draganica - with the stress on "i"." If Dobrica, Draganica are stressed on "i" then why is Dobrotitsa stressed on the second syllable, on the second "o"?

How were/are Dragota stressed according to the Imennik? drAgota or dragotA? It says "DrAgota". Actually I doubt that any such male name would have the stress on the last syllable, because the nouns "dobrotA", "krasotA" etc. are feminine. I don't know. I will repeat myself, that I don't think you should give so much importance to the accent. In Bulgarian language the accent is shifting. And between the dialects there are various differences - for example my name is NikOla, but in Macedonia the same name is pronounced NIkola. So I suppose that also in the past one name could have had different accents.

what's with all this reactionary blabbering? who cares what's the origin of his name....
1) name doesn't prove ethnic origin, just cultural contact 2) who cares about his ethnic origin anyway, since he didn't left much other than his name 3)what has ethnic origin has to do with anything... a bulgarian can go anywhere in romania with just an ID, and by 2011 he'll notice he's in romania just by the lack of cyrillic street signs.
