effective for sports. I recommend you all do cleans/jerks/snatches. And you'll look like Ivan Soitsov If this thread involves training without performance enhancing drugs then it would be advisable to remove this picture. This guy with certainty is swallowing anabolic steroids like they are potato chips. I have been lifting for quite some time and have come across many drugs abusers and believe me when I say that you cannot get traps and shoulders like that guy including cut up abs and huge legs naturally. Eating alot of potatoes and vegetables does not cause this.

Well... if you did want to get really technical. He's not so big and ripped as to be unachievable by any of us normal people. He is WAY stronger than a non-steroid user will ever be though... but he doesn't particularly look like a user. This on the other hand;

It depends on how you use the drug and the type of performance enhancing drug you use. Guys in my gym that I used to know who were on drugs looked exactly like the Ivan guy. The picture you have provided is from someone who is using anabolic steroids for size as in body building. Depending on what you intend to achieve there is the right type of drug. Pretty much like cyclists use performance enhancing drugs yet they do not look like ronnie coleman as their type enhances their red blood cells and oxygen delivery and volume to muscles.

Exactly. So you can't particularly pick out who is on a PERFORMANCE based steroid just by looking at them.

yes you can. If you have been working out long enough so that you would know how a body behaves, responds and grows then you can easily pick out who is on steroids and who is not. Usually people who do not lift weights and/or bodybuild are the ones easily fooled by thinking if you eat alot of potatoes, carrots and broccoli in conjunction with lifting weights you start looking like arnold schwarzenegger. Unless you have been seriously lifting weights and that naturally for years, then I would say you are in no position to argue over the steroid issue.

"Squats and Deadlifts are the best!"
I agree, if you can do squats do it. When l was playing basketball, l was prone to jumpers knee and squats didn't help the problem so l stopped doing it for leg extensions and dead lifts.
Has anyone here ever had injury, shin splints?

^ l agree, its a dangerous exercise if not done currectly. You must always wear a belt and have your back straight with your azz sticking out, and never try to be a legend by lifting more than you can do, only when you find it easy then increase the weight slightly. This was how l did it by doing the first set with 10 reps at 75% of my lifting capacity, then second at 90% capacity with 8 reps and third with 100% capacity with 6 reps.
You must know your limitations with all exercises, l once injured my shoulder by doing incline bench press, it freaken killed.

Here is my routine (i change the routine every 8 weeks because eventually the body gets used to it and you really want to "shock" the body for optimum growth) Yehh i used to do that too

I used to do weights. My arms and legs became abnormally huge so I stopped. They are still pretty huge even though I stopped over 4 years ago.

I've neglected the gym over the last month or so because of holidays, travel and exams, but I normally go 3 times a week. 1 day = biceps/chest, 2 day = triceps/back, 3 day = legs. For the last few months I warmed up with cardio, just running for a mile.
The biggest reason I go to the gym is to improve my conditioning. I figured I was too young to be having back pains, and to be panting after running up a couple of flights of stairs. Sports is another reason. I like playing basketball, but ever since I started law school my mobility and speed out on the court regressed, and I wanted to fix that. I can't wait to go back, just have one more exam (on Monday) to get out of the way.

Yep, I'd say I'm very physically active. And I am so 1) because one of my biggest passions is a physically demanding activity: dancing, and 2) I feel good about myself when I move my body and keep myself fit and healthy.
I don't have a strict routine, only when it comes to dancing (because I don't dance alone/am comitted to a schedual with other girls). But if I had to make a rough schedual it'd look like this:
Mondays: swimming in the morning, bellydancing in the evening Tuesdays: gym in the morning Wednesdays: gher and baba karam (Persian dances) in the evening Thursdays: swimming in the morning, halparke and semame (Kurdish dances) in the evening Fridays: gym in the morning Saturdays: gym in the morning, but only light cardio Sundays: rest day.
