I understand the history behind Monastir, however, how many Albanians are there today. Estimates range at 20k at best.

80-90 years ago it would of been easy to divide it up .... slavs mission throughout history has been to populate Albanian areas up with slavs ....
Prespa Macedonia ....i would say is 40% Albanian ....might even be lower
sadly to say but ...if disapora albs returned it would double that
just look at Manastir ....I remember so many Albs in Manastiri just in 1970 ...I was a kid
today ...very little ...let alone Manastiri has increase in slavic population 200% since then ....
for a city where the total Albanian alphabet was unified ....is embarrassing ...sadly to say ....

I definitely agree about the diaspora part throughout Maqedoni. Many Albanians were either deported or given visas to get the hell out of there. There is no doubt in my mind that Albanians make well over 40% of Maqedoni during the summertime when most come back home.

yes ...something did happen in the 1970's ....it was more easier for albs to leave than others ....
we took the bait ....not good in a way
my dad left illegally back in 1961 into Greece and 1/2 of Prespa lived/went through my house in the 70's in USA

Yeah my grandfather had a visa into America, but he only worked there and didn't bring his family there.
And my granfather's uncle got a visa to go to Turkey during Rankovic's time and was given some land in Turkey to live. But I know some others were deported without their consent.
Doesn't matter too much, the Slavs have a slow growth rate. But it is kinda scary how many Albanians today are moving to Europe and America. But I can't really blame them because I would be a hypocrite as well......
And till this day they still live in Turkey and have become Turks.

Whats the demographics of Prespa? So if a split were to hypothetically happen, Albania would probably receive: -Tetove -Gostivar -Struga -Kercova (Maybe) What else? Or Kosova ;D As for the topic, Kosova recognize FYROM by that name and I dont see it changing until Greek recognition.

This moving is also facilitating growth for the community through remittances. I heard cases in Macedonia where the Slavs are being forced to learn Alb became many of the new firms are Alb opened and Alb themselves generally only hire Albs (or in other cases, other Muslims).

It is creating some kind of growth, but the growth is due to the diaspora buying property, business and et cetera. Like Albania, it lacks infastructure that is sorely needed to create new jobs and with the mentality that it is better to go abroad then to invest at home, this will be a continuing problem. What happens if we join the EU? Every Albanian will leave, Romania and Bulgaria already face this problem.
As for Macedonians learning Albanians, its true. My cousin tells me there having a hard time learning it though since they don't really use vowels (I believe.)

kumanova and Shkup are mixed and the Albanians are still in the minority in those cities, therefore, it would be hard to make a case for them.
But your right, I did forget about Diber.
I've also heard that Albanians from Albania don't really like the Macedonian Albanian b/c we're supposedly the most religious Albanians. Some of them call us fanatics......

I agree about Greece because there are hardly any real Greeks in Macedonia.
And if Greece would get anything, then I would say Albania deserves all the cities I mentioned and places such as Monastir. Divide it up between Serbia, Bulgaria and Albania, and Greece benefits doesn't have to worry about their history be stolen.

I agree Rex about the radicalism stuff. It's pure propaganda made by the Slavs. Of course Albanians might be more religious then from Ethnic Albania, but thats only due to the fact that we did not go through that brutal communist regime that destroyed religious beliefs (one of the best things Enver did btw.)
The only thing Albanian muslims from Macedonia follow is not eating pork and maybe fasting. Other then that, we're fake muslims.
