BRATUNAC, May 12 (FENA) -Around 4.000 people, Bratunac natives, family members of Bosniak victims who were murdered in 1992 in this city and its surrounding villages, gathered on Monday at the Shaheed cemetery Veljaci in down town Bratunac where they will commemorate 41 identified victims and attend the burial ceremony.
Commemoration will be attended by high government officials from both entities as well as representatives of international community among which, BiH presidency member zeljko Komsic, Clifford Bond, OHR Emissary for Srebrenica, RS delegation led by Omer Brankovic, minister for refugees in RS government.
Central event began with religious ceremony after which 41 victims of crimes against civilian population will be buried.
At the Veljaci cemetery, among 41 victims of heinous crime committed in 1992 against Bosniak population, an 18 month old baby Nedzada Ibrahimovic will be buried. She was killed in her mother’s Bida arms. Tiny body of the baby was exhumed from the mass grave “Suha” on May 9 2006 where she was found in a bag with her mother and sister Mirzeta who was 9 months old when she was murdered. Remains of Nedzada Ibrahimovic have not been identified yet and they will be buried next to her mother’ grave who was buried May last year.
Nine months old baby Mirzeta, sister of 18 months old Nedzada has not been identified yer and there will be an empty burial place waiting for her remains until the next funeral.
Cliford Bond stated that we must achieve justice. “This will not be over and we will never reach the end of the process until the justice is done. I think that there can be no true dialogue and reconciliation without justice”.
BiH presidency member Zeljko Komsc stated that BIH cannot seize to be the country of mass graves and war criminals still out free.
"Not only in BIH but they are all around the region hiding. Here we are burying 41 victims of war crimes and 41 families will finally have the resting place of the dearest. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who are far finding their own”, stated Komsic.
RS Minister of Refugees Omer Brankovic stated that we must be persistent in finding and burying all the victims.
Fata Orlovic from Konjevic Polje who is struggling for years to relocate the illegally built Orthodox Church from her yard stated for the press:
"How do I feel? How should I feel? Horrible! Look how many mothers came today. My 22 nephews are gone. I buried my husband, so how should I feel?!”, she stated after the funeral.
Bratunac municipal mayor Nedeljko Mladjenovic stated that victims do not know nationality, faith or politics.
"If we want to make it better for everyone, we should all have to face the truth”, he stated.
