FROM A JEWISH SITE... Also, you may know that the midle east belonged to the hellenistic empire of the Ptolemies.Te first of this dynasty was Alexander's general,PTOLEMY...read this from an jewish site.... www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/History/Greeks.htmlThey came unexpectedly. After two centuries of serving as a vassal state to Persia, Judah suddenly found itself the vassal state of Macedonia, a Greek state. For most of the world belonged to Persia; in a blink of an eye, it now fell to the Greeks. This great Greek empire would last no longer than Alexander's brief life. For the dispersion of the Jews had begun during the Exile, and large, powerful groups of Jews lived all throughout the Persian empire and later the Hellenistic kingdoms ("Hellenistic"="Greek"). The Greeks brought with them a brand new concept: the "polis," or "city-state." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Source: The Hebrews: A Learning Module from Washington State University, ©Richard Hooker. Come on now Leo, Your quote said something different.. that relates to a time centuries before Alexander or Greeks came on the scene.. Quote:Another common misconception is that Alexander was THE FIRST GREEK MONARCH to dress himself in a multicolored tunic and to wear a diadem. Archaeologists have found diadems and golden garlands in Macedonian tombs that were built well before Alexander's reign and it is known from literary sources that the rulers of Syracuse had been wearing Persian vestments for more than half a century (above). They had done so because they wanted to stress their divine status, and compared to their extravaganza, Alexander was dressed modestly.

honey, your english is supposed to be better than mine... ;D
should i define "misconception" to ya?
in this paragraph, the author tries to explain that Alexander was not the first GREEK MONARCH who wore a diadem etc, but other greek monarchs were dressed like him in earlier periods...such as other macedonian nobilities AND the rulers of the GREEK city of Syracuse (magna Graecia)...

That does include Greek propaganda sites, right?
Most of these kinds of sites, Greek or Macedonian, are nationalistic in nature. Can not get around this because of the nationalistic nature of the Balkans. I’ve defined the Macedonians as members of an existing ethnicity. You on the other hand want to define a name that did not exist but only as a regional characteristic, that is common to Greeks also. Who is the propagandist my dear ? Surely not the Greeks right ?

Fyromians have not equal rights to call themselves slavmacedonians or greekmacedonians. Ancient macedonians were all of greek descent. The Independece of FYR Macedonia must cut offFyrom is an illegal State in the UN it does not represent the the minorities ,serbian, albanian, bulgarian, greek, vlach ,turks, jew and gypsies with this constitutional name. Nobody have the rights of falsification Greek history to united a country and a nation who in reality does not exist. If this country want survive he must find an new constitutional name of this Republic without Greek term of Macedonia. We must collect Sign to Suspend Fyrom from UN if Fyrom dont want to find a compromise in the name issue with Greece

We understand each other and what we mean when we use the word "Macedonian". I use it one way and you another. It is understood as the way it is here. I do not use it to step on anybody's feet. If you do feel that I do, please understand that it is not my issue, it is yours.

We understand each other and what we mean when we use the word "Macedonian". I use it one way and you another. It is understood as the way it is here. I do not use it to step on anybody's feet. If you do feel that I do, please understand that it is not my issue, it is yours. It's not my issue because you lack knowledge to the region. See for your self; www.travel-greece.org/greece.php?loc1=nothern_greece&loc2=pella&loc3=arnissa&pagetype=normalYou said your Mother came from this part, well it's inside Greece. Now have a look where FYROM is. What would the out come be if I one day went to a Jewish site and used an id say like "German Jew" and paraded a Jewish flag with a swastika on it.
Would this be an acceptable thing to do ? You're disrespecting the true Macedonians dude. And respect our Greekness as Macedonians. Don't come here and make some topics like there is dictatorship when it's evident it's the Greek forum that is the victim of your "control drama called" poor me syndrome. Which is an act you've mastered over the years I must congratulate you for that. I on the other hand have no shame to call my self a Greek from Macedonia nor will I be ashamed of my back ground for I have nothing to hide like you do. In other words you're a disgrace to the real Macedonians and their legacy. The only understanding we have btw each other is that I'm a Greek and you're a Slav with a Bulgarian conscious and nothing more. Macedonia being always Greek, so you sir are no Macedonian. You do not represent the 3 million Macedonians who are happy Greeks, so therefore don't speak on our behalf again.
