This is a very stylized version of the polyphony and adapted to a famous southern Albanian poem that I grew up to.
The poem is popular in Gjirokaster, where the event took place. After killing the Turkish governor in Gjirokaster, Mihal and Cerciz fled to a nearby village. The story was told in either poem or narrative by Mihal Grameno, an Albanian nationalist who fought with Cerciz Topulli(I dont know exactly if he wrote, but he wrote a number of poems on the acts of the ceta). They were sieged by Turkish troops at a village in Mashkullore. Cerciz, Mihal and the rest of the ceta managed to break the siege while only losing one man(Hajderin). Here he gave the Turks the famous reply: "Let my boys go or Im going to kill you all, let my boys go because you boys fight, as its in their nature."
