It almost impossible to believe taht ancient Greeks were not influencd by any of their neighbors/invadors/teh invaded etc. Greeks would argue that they have proof because Greek was written language not others ones but in Scottland and Ireland doesent everyone speak English...if they have famous Irish philospher or w/e will he be known as English? These are just theoris i came up in history class so relax i'm not going to claiem everything Albanian. For me they have 60 % assyrians culture. I lived 8 years in Greece and I know well that country

Yes I try to imagine....a noble pure aryan looking guy....in frazzled clothing....looking for work in the middle of an assyrian society... you as a people have failed wherever possible but you still have the audacity to judge others. You are failures...out and out. If European or gypsy...doesnt count in your case.

Greece is still the poorest country of EU (include 10 eastern europian countries) Greece is more rich than Bulgaria and Romania

albillyrian "Greece is still the poorest country of EU (include 10 eastern europian countries)" ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ...and why 1,000,000 albanian ECONOMIC IMMIGRANTS... are still in Greece? Why they dont prefer the reach eastern europian countries like Chehia, Slovakia, Lithouania, Hungary, Poland etc etc. ? lol lol What I know is that... ECONOMIC IMMIGRANTS follow the money... Do we have here a new scenario? Economic immigrants choosing a poor country to ... develop their economics? Weird race the Albanians! lol lol lol

Dear Basil, you know very well that Albanians immigrate in Greece because they feel home there; not because of any special treatment, just because Greeks are equally the same as Albanians and because families have connections now and help each-other. Another reason is because is near and don't think Albanians didn't immigrate in other countries. yes, they did. In Italy too...for the same reasons. For Albanians it is enough to be close to home even though the money in Greece is not as much as in other Nordic European countries. It is always more than in Albania, ftani...

How about maybe it was because they were regionally closest and most stable in contrast to the north where Yugoslavia was crumbling and heading towards civil war
and I cannot believe how quickly this collapsed into yet another such issue... so sad.

Toskaliku "How about maybe it was because they were regionally closest " Teuta "For Albanians it is enough to be close to home" So... as I see... the main reason you both use, was the distance. Greece was near.. and thats it. So.. almost HALF Greek economic immigrants that choose US (3,5 million Greeks) and Australia (1 million Greeks) instead of ...Germany (0,5 million Greeks)... were not as smart as Albanians.. right? Teuta "you know very well that Albanians immigrate in Greece because they feel home there" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I thought Greece is a hostile and racist country that hates and tortures Albanians.. Guys.. I really thing you have started na berdevete ta boutia sas... ;D ;D

If you had any clue as to how different integrating to Germany and to America is. My uncle lived in Austria for 7 years of his life and for the last 1 year was eagerly awaiting his entrance to America. Now he makes 3x as much as he did while in Austria, where he was limited to being a taxi driver while now he works in a doctors office. However, the average peasant doesnt have those opportunities. Its hard for an Albanian to get the papers for Germany, whereas for Greece there are many hidden easy routes.

... finally... in economic immgration what do you believe it counts more.. Money or Distance?
For example, a Pakistani will prefer to go in Dubai where he can work in constractions and take X money... or in England where is far far away and will take 3X ?
I believe money. Do you believe.. distance?

Considering how many Paki's live in England, I would say that most do prefer. In the case of Dubai, its most likely those who dont have the chance to go to England and are picked up by Arab companies who need quick labor.
Keep in mind of how difficult it is to actually get to America or head into England or Germany, especially in 1991. I remember the 5-6 interviews at the embassy made by my parents, one who had a degree and worked for years as a journalist the other with experience that could easily land her a job in America, both spoke English.
The average Albanian could only dream of getting American access and my uncle constantly had to go out of his way in Austria to make sure he wasnt going to be kicked out tomorrow.
Hence Greece is an easy expedient. Not to mention the lax borders at that time meant that they could simply sneak in.

ok.. back then I understand it. But now?! Albanians can go almost everywere they want in Europe. Look at Libofhsa. he's in Ireland now after some years in Greece. Look most of the Albanian members.. most of them were in Greece for 3-5 years and now they're elsewhere. Why 700,000 Albanians insist in Greece... and they dont follow you? Afterall... Greece is "poor racist and evil to Albanians"
