With high job losses and prices going sky high how are you coping ?
Me personally am not affected yet since having no debts what so ever in my name “touches wood” I can already see the affects on others around me.
Anyone here feeling the pinch yet ?

Are you kidding !...its never been better ! ;D Car prices are dropping 4 - 5000 euros Real Estate has dropped a little making it more easier to buy.. The ECB interest rates dropped again..im paying like half of what i used to pay for my mortgage.. The shops are always full and ppl are paying less for the first time ! It may be a crisis for big business....but for the little guy that is employed..its perfect ! For European countries the crisis does not affect us due to socialist policies that cushion ppl in times like this. These are the times where you can really see the benefits in socialism. For pure capatilistic societies like the US...thats where you will see ppl suffer. I hope it stays like this for a while

I believe it will last until the end of 2009 and the first months of 1010. It cant go more.... everything will collapse! By the time I tell you... time is enough to get rid all the golden boys from all the companies and hire again youngs with minimum wage... since that was the purpose from the beggining

NOW IS DEFINITELY THE TIME TO GO ON VACATION. JUST GOT A TWO WEEK CRUISE TO ITALY, GREECE, CROATIA, TURKEY FOR 1,000 DOLLARS. Celebrate this economic downturn by saving and spending on things like this because prices are lowering. Prices are lowering on things that are normally big purchases such as homes, cars, vacations, interest rates, etc... etc...

But agree all those with cash buy, buy up boys Not sure about that. I am trying to save every penny. This downturn can go on for years. I was laid off in January but was able to go back to my old job within the week so it turned out great since I got a three month severance package. Financially I have never been in a better position yet psychologically I have never felt any worse. I have quite a few friends who haven't worked for months and another one is about to lose his job. Even my job is not secure. The uncertainty can drive one insane.

It's been tough for me to look for a new job as an Undergrad. Thankfully I can still live off my parents for now and my dad is involved in the Pizzeria business which has not been hit too hard by this crisis. I plan to either further my studies through Law School or maybe go for my Master instead. But at this point I'm not quite sure where I want to go with my profession.

DO NOT GO TO LAW SCHOOL, unless of course you get a free ride and come out of school debt-free or you get into a top school (top 15-20) and think you can be a top student there, in which case you might be able to land a six-figure job although it seems like there's not a guarantee of that happening anymore.

You're not the first person to tell me this. It seems you really need to be in the top 20% of your class to get those type of jobs, and I understand it is competitive and most people who attend law school have the same mindset as. I do not have any debts from my undergrad and I majored in Accounting and was figuring going for a Tax law. But like I said, at this point I'm not exactly sure what I want to purse. Mastering in Economics was my other choice, but I'm not exactly sure how valuable an Economics degree is.

If I were you I'd get the CPA licence and then even if you go to law school you'd be way more marketable especially to the Big 4 CPA firms. In hindsight this should have been my route but I opted for finance instead. BIG mistake.

I was going for my CPA regardless but it seems the competition is intence for these Public firms this year. Most people who work at these Public firms would get their experience for the CPA and go off in the private field after a few years. But due to the economy the private field isn't hiring like it was, therefore, many of them are staying where they are and making it difficult for College grads like me to get a job.
I'm crossing my fingers I get this IRS position so I can hopefully get my CPA experience and move to one of these Public companies once the economy improves (if it improves.) If nothing really opens up, I'm going to continue my education a bit further.

Right now it's tough for any field/industry as all the companies have pretty much stopped hiring but things will pick up eventually. A graduate degree doesn't hurt as long as you incurr the minimal amount of debt. Debt kills you.
