BANJA LUKA -- The Republic of Srpska Interior Ministry (MUP) says they are taking deaths threats addressed to Prime Minister Milorad Dodik very seriously.
Interior Minister Stanislav Čađo was quoted as saying in Banja Luka on Monday that his ministry is “taking these threats extremely and very seriously, just as it takes threats against other RS citizens”.
“But this question calls for a high level of sensibility since it is an RS institution in question, and the fact that this is happening at a time which RS is in the center of attention of those that do not wish RS and its institutions well,” Čađo said.
He added that RS police are prepared to secure property and security of every citizen, especially RS’s institutional leaders.
Police Director Uroš Pena said that police, in cooperation with the Federal and local police in Sarajevo, have identified the locations from where the printed and e-mailed letters were sent.
RS government media office chief Vera Sajić confirmed that Dodik and the government have been receiving threatening letters and messages.
“The letters are mostly directed at the prime minister and they are usually threatening, but there are also hate speech messages, and some that are demeaning and hateful towards the Serb people,” Sajić said.
She added that in one of the letters, a group called the Association of Muslim Bosniak Allah’s Warriors, threatened Dodik that "they would send him to Akhirah" – an Islamic term referring to the afterlife
