s**t is hilarious. Awesome find Leo! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) No, what is hilarious is that times have changed. You live by the sword you die by the sword and all is fair in love and war. Just as long as Turks know this and accept the rules they cannot complain or expect any sympathy when things do not go their way. Matter of fact I think much of the world would support and turn a blind eye to the destruction of Turkey.

And yet another genocide commited by the Turks... Bad things happened in history even though people tend to name events differently. It is important to recall them though.

They were simply murdered...nothing more or nothing less...Just two survivors,my grand father and an uncle of mine...A few days earlier these villagers were begging the greek army to take them to Greece during the retreat but they were ignored. The virgins were throwing their "prika" clothes from the windows out of despair. Ionia greeks (western Asia minor) were wealthy, educated and greek speaking people. The Turks were simply peasants. These Greeks suffered great casualties. On the other hand, the Cappadokian Greeks from Anatolia, were poor and turkish speaking people...They had much less casualties. Only 1,5 million out of the 2,5 millions of Greeks of Turkey survived.About 700.000 Asia minor (Ionia) Greeks in 1922 and 350.000 Pontians in 1915 lost their lives during the turkish attrocities.BUT i dont blame the Turks alone. There was a very serious greek responsibility for the Asia minor massacre,i could even call it a high treason. These people were abbandoned in Turkey, there was enough time for their rescue.Such a waste... ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cry.png) And this was a REAL GENOCIDE...we should call things with their real name.Killing 1 million Greeks,1,5 million Armenians and 700.000 Assyrians is trully a genocide. But sending 20.000 Albanian Chams to Albania is certainly not a genocide but a deportation...

I have a similar story..My grandmother was the only one that made it out alive during the killing spreed. She was smuggled with the help of a turkish family at the time. Leandros is right...greeks over there had a good status. I dont approve of Venizelos agreement about the pop exchange. But at the same time I guess if he didnt do it...Macedonia would still be with slavs. Catch 22 i guess... Hellboy, ppl were murdered in a frenzy. Some shot, some hanged, some burned...it was a lynching frenzy.

those figures that leandros mentioned are grossly overestimated to the point where it defies belief, and no way does it justify what the greeks subjected the albs to in cameria.

its easy, i tend to discredit any greek claims and believe the exact opposite, or in other words 'actual history', you sold your own people down the river and now excpect sympathy? that's just low

I dont know. The survivors-relatives of mine- were not present. They had joined the greek army and were kept as prisoners after our defeat.Of course, they had hidden their turkish citizenship.Greeks of Asia minor who joined the greek army were usually assasinated by the Turks. hmmm....you dont know the turks well as it seems...ok,let me give you some clue... www.armenian-genocide.org/genocidefaq.html#How_manyit is estimated that one and a half million Armenians perished between 1915 and 1923.www.armeniapedia.org/index.php?title=Armenian_GenocideA 2002 study by the International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ), a New York-based human rights organization, ruled that the slaughter of some 1.5 million Armenians fits into the internationally accepted definition of genocide.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assyrian_GenocideScholars have placed the number of Assyrian victims at 500,000 to 750,000.www.ankawa.com/english/?p=3312Assyrian International News Agency 7 December 2009 Fairfield, Australia - A proposed Assyrian genocide monument has drawn the Turkish government into the debate. The monument, proposed to the NSW Parliament by MP Ninos Khoshaba, would honor the Assyrian victims of genocide in the 20th century, particularly the Turkish genocide of Assyrians in World War One, in which 750,000 (75%) Assyrians were killed between 1915 and 1918, as well as Armenians and Greeks, and the massacre of 3000 Assyrians in Simmele, Iraq in August, 1933. I dont know what to say.If the turks killed 1,5 million armenians and 750.000 assyrians,I wonder whats keeping them from killing one million greeks.
