Of course. If they go to Sofia, for instance, they will stop talking Albanian It is not very convinient to speak a language that few people understand at your place of work. And who is talking about a minority zone?!

korcarbre....c'ke qe mer flak mor shoku? nuk po thot njeri qe keto zona dominohem nga minoritetet, por qe ka presence, qetesohu. Ore po ti e pe harten apo do gjyslyke? lol. That's exactly waht the map shows that supposedly theers that "Macedonian" majority around the regions of Korca and there isnt! I never met anyone in Korca who said they wre Macedonian and Ive been to the villages too including Bilisht, the Devoll district is puer Albanian my dad's grandpa's originally from there. I'll say it again there are vlachs there of course but 1 Bulgarian and a half does not equal a minority zone!!

Well, the Arbanasi in Bulgaria have pretty much been assimilated into Slavs as well, have they not? The inevitable consequence in modern socities where urbanization shows little mercy to culures other than the mainstream.

You can't compare these two because Arbanasi were assimilated long time ago. Look, I am not accusing your state just because some people don't want to speak their mother tongue at home. After all, it is their choice.

The Arbanasi back then, the Gollobërdasit now; assimilation is in the end the same thing, assimilation. Being that their numbers are so few, a minority status is difficult to obtain. The preservation of their culture, language & identity is pretty much their own responsibility.
Besides, I am pretty sceptic that the people from Gollobërda who do not identify as Albanians, identify as Bulgarians. I think that culturally, they must be closest to Pomaks.

Pomaks? I don't think so. Btw, what is Pomak culture? Pomaks are muslimized Bulgarians who are even more religious than Turks and I didn't see these people following some religious rules.

Well, that's true. I wuld have thought that Jivkov's reign would have the same effect on eligious extremism in Bulgaria ... not perhaps in the same extent, but nonetheless.

OK now I'm confused, are these people Orthodox or Muslim? I thought there were Orthodox Macedonians in Albania, but they're actually Torbesh?

Who cares? Torbeshi, Gorani, blah blah... just another name for Slav... Anything else and their playing semantics...

Torbesh is pure albanian word which that means people who carie bag with themselves. Torbe=Bag Gollobordas carie always bag to keep those suplies that needed working on costruction. The mothertongue language that Gollos speaking is definitely Macedonian .
