without religion there would be a moral vacuum which would very well envelop the region with even more violence than there is...some here forget that this is the balkans and not your cozy little western european/american hamlet. Nope. There still would have been war, but less. And there would probably be better relations between the Balkan nations as most of the hatred now is based around difference of religion.

I believe that hatred, in the Balkans has been based upon ethnicity more than religion. Now this is my opinion based upon what I see everyday in the forums over the net. People do not talk about religion more than they talk about ethnicity. There are Bosniaks who say they aren't Muslims, would they be loved by their neighboring Serbs just for that? What do you think?
