Ataturk does not look Greek. Why are we talking about Romans, they don't exist anymore. He looks quite Turkish.
Erdogan is Cherkez, and Kemal Dervis is a Donmeh! secret Jewish.
Necdet Sezer is also Cherkez.

Greeks influenced very heavily by Romans+Persians+ect, also Romans influenced by Etruscans+Celts+ect. Illyrians and Daco-Thracians were more numerous than Romans and Greeks. In what were Greeks influenced by Romans and Persians...? Only minor influences by Romans who were just a copy of the Greek civilization. The population of an area explodes when it has urban centers, poleis, and Greece was full of poleis, along with its colonies in Minor Asia and Magna Grecia more than 1000 attested. In contrast Illyro-thracians ,who could be totally alien groups, were nomads or farmers living in vast majority in the hills... Illyrothracians were either hellenized heavily or romanized, hence you have Romanians speaking latin and Albanians semi-latin. include there also greeks which until XVIII century called themself Romui (not greeks). We are talking in sence of racial, why should call greco-roman?, also greeks (like illyrians/thracians) invaded from Romans. We have Spanish,Portugals,Frenchs who adopted latin/roman language. Also Othomans invaded us balcan people (500 years), why should not call Romano-Othoman then? ;D Italy territory (before rise of romans) since neolithic time was very mixed there and lived very close from eachothers etruscans, illyrians, greeks from asia minor, celts, germans tribes ect.

Well Greeks from Turkey are called Rum. Greeks from Greece are called Yunanli.
Also yes Greeks are not a pure race. All over Turkey there are different people, lydians, lycians, etc., and much later on these people began using the Greek alphabet. They are all city states.
Also, Romans were all over Turkey, not to mention Hittittes which have a different civilization as well.

I can, today, call myself "Romios" too, as synonim to "Hellenas", just as you can call yourself Sqiptar or Arberor... "Romios" reminds us more our great Byzantine past and we are equally proud for our "pagan" part of our history, of ancient Greece.

Romios and Greek mean the same...also today.
Example: Vartholomaios refering to the Greeks of the USA consciously as Romioi in his speech...watch 3:30.

The Reason Turks calls Greeks of Turkey Rum is because they were part of the Eastern Roman Empire aka Byantine Empire.

Nationalism is a new concept, people did not have identities based on ethnicity until the 1900's.
