Bulgaria Brothers Firm on Founding Muslim Party on Good FridayDomestic | April 2, 2010, Friday The new muslin party of the notorious Uzeirovi brothers will be founded in the city of Shumen on Good Friday, one of the brothers, Ali Uzeirov, declared.Ali Uzeirov, one of the notorious Uzeirovi brothers, who want to set a Muslim party in Bulgaria, had already arrived in downtown Shumen Saturday, wearing a red Turkish fez. Photo by BGNES Weeks ago Uzeirovi informed about their intentions to create the party OTOMAN, an abbreviation which stands for “Union for Tolerance, Responsibility, Moral, and Alternative Progress.” Yet the party's name bears uncanny connotation to the Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria's bitter past under Turkish dominion. Many in Bulgaria see the decision of the wannabe politicians to found their party on April 2, which is Good Friday for Orthodox Christians, as a provocation. The brothers have responded to the accusations by saying that they have chosen that day because of the traditional Friday's Muslim prayer and that every Friday is sacred for Muslims. Initially Uzeirovi said the establishment of OTOMAN will begin with a prayer at in the famed Tombul Mosqu, but the Muslim community in the northeast Bulgarian city of Shumen declared they will not allow the brothers to use the mosque. The meeting is now scheduled to take place in the local “Shumen” hotel. The notorious, Ali Uzeirov, had already arrived in downtown Shumen Saturday, wearing a red Turkish fez. Meanwhile, the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) informed that Shumen citizens have staged a protest rally, organized through Facebook, against the founding of OTOMAN. The City Hall informed the demonstrators have not obtained an official permission. Earlier, in order to prevent clashes between rival groups, the Shumen Mayor, Krasimir Kostov, banned all rallies or manifestations. Kostov claims that some of the founders of the new party are residents of Shumen, currently living in Belgium and France, and are financed by Muslim extremists. Uzeirovi insist that OTOMAN’s main goal is to promote religious and ethnic tolerance. Their similar initiatives in the summer and fall of 2009 have been slammed by many commentators as attempts to stir ethnic and religious tension and a test to the stability of Bulgarian democracy and of the cabinet "Borisov." In the fall of 2009, the two brothers erected a monument of the Unknown Turkish/Muslim Soldier near Targovishte, which was torn down by the authorities after court action. Again in 2009, Yuzeir Yuzeirov was refused registration of his “Muslim Democratic Union” party because it was based on religious and ethnic principles and hence unconstitutional. www.novinite.com/view_news.php?id=114848

Bulgaria Brothers Effort to Found Muslim Party FoilsDomestic | April 2, 2010, Friday Ali Uzeirov, one of the notorious Uzeirovi brothers, who want to set a Muslim party in Bulgaria, walked out of the Shumen hotel wearing a red Turkish fez, but has been asked by the police to remove it. Photo by BGNES The Muslim party OTOMAN will not be established for the time being because the founders, the notorious Uzeirovi brothers, failed to gather the needed 500 supporters. The information was announce Friday by one of the brothers, Ali Uzeirov, who complained that many buses and followers on foot were on their way but could not arrive to the meeting over being stopped by the police. It is also reported that about 72 Roma, all under the age of 16, have attempted to join the party OTOMAN. The area around the hotel “Shumen” in the northeastern city with the same name has been sealed off by the police due to fears of clashes between Muslims and Bulgarian nationalists. For the most part Bulgarians, Muslim Bulgarians, and Turks coexist peacefully in Bulgaria with no issues. But idiots like this, whose main purpose is clearly nothing but purposeful provocation should be put down like rabid dogs.
Good.
How much more tolerant can Bulgaria be!? Members of society, regardless of ethnicity, who abide by the laws of the country, are not treated differently than ethnic Bulgarians. Obviously there are cases of discrimination, but that’s true with all countries. Discrimination on a racial basis still exists even in the wealthiest of nations today.
Additionally, minorities that have successfully integrated into Bulgarian society, for example Armenians and Jews to name two, are treated no differently than the average Bulgarian. I think the same can be said about all those non-extremist Turks.

as far as I have heard the local Muslims dont care about this party so the leaders had to go to Gypsy settlements and offer financial incentives for them to join them. i think pretty much all their "supporters" are Gypsies.
the brothers who are trying to set up this party are most likely on the payroll of some Islamist organizations from the Arab Gulf states and probably dont even genuinely believe in this stuff themselves. however i think Islamist ideology really wont have much chance of succeeding in Bulgaria as most Muslims there are nominal Muslims at most.

why do you guys immediately assume that this party is trying to make a provocation? If they open a party legally, there is nothing wrong with that. And maybe the timing is a coincidence. I mean, it could be you know.
They say their goal is to promote religious and or ethnic tolerance. Maybe they feel there is a need for it. We can't really judge until we know for sure.
Don't you guys have Christian party's in Bulgaria as well?
Like Germans have the Christian Democratic party?

It’s just like Raven said; these guys are sponsored by some Arab Islamic extremists who have ill intentions. It’s easy to see that this party and the selected date is nothing but provocation.
I doubt it’s a coincidence. And if these idiots actually wanted for the party to be respected, at least to some extent, they would easily see that this initiative on this date will be seen as provocation.
Yeah.. O. K. Do notice the sarcasm.
As far as I know, no. I think the Bulgarian constitution doesn’t allow for political parties to be formed on an ethnic or religious basis.
And what the hell does religion have anything to do with anything!? I know of Muslim Bulgarians who are just as proud of being Bulgarian as Christian Bulgarians.
The bottom line is, Bulgaria doesn’t need any such reasons for further instability. All citizens of Bulgaria regardless of their religious views (if they have any) or their ethnicity need to coexist peacefully in order to look toward a brighter future. And as I’ve already mentioned above, for the most part relations are neutral. We don’t need idiots like this to instigate instability in our communities.

Of course, everyone should peacefully coexist no question about that.
Isn't the nationalist far right party founded on Bulgarian Christian identity - Ataka?

why do you guys immediately assume that this party is trying to make a provocation? Judging by the name of the party it seems like they do have a provocative agenda.

On that basis, I do think that a party with the abbreviation FVCKKEMAL would be accepted very well in Turkey. Don't you think? I see no provocation here at all.

PM Urges Bulgarian Media to Snub Attempts to Found OTOMAN PartyDomestic | April 4, 2010, Sunday Bulgarian Prime Minister Borisov has described the ideas of the Yuzeirov brothers to found a Muslim/Turkish political party as an April Fools' Day joke. Photo by BGNES The notorious Yuzeirov Brothers attempting to found an ‘OTOMAN’ party do not deserve media attention, according to Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. “They don’t deserve to be in the spotlight of the media, they are insulting our nation, and our neighbors,” Borisov stated in the town of Sevlievo Sunday as cited by the BNR. The Prime Minister commented on the unsuccessful attempts of the Yuzeirovi Brothers to found their new party named OTOMAN on Good Friday in Shumen, and then in Svishtov the following day. “If you don’t mention their names, nobody will even know about them. The Yuzeirovi Brothers are relying on the media. You make them famous,” Borisov told journalists in Sevlievo. He said he considered the idea of the two brothers to rename some of the Bulgarian cities with Turkish names was an April Fools’ Day joke. www.novinite.com/view_news.php?id=114880

Why weren't they allowed to found the party? Isn't it within their right?
And now that the Prime Minister mentioned their names, they're even more famous.

And now that the Prime Minister mentioned their names, they're even more famous. After all, that Borisov guy was a firefighter before starting his political career. Who knows, perhaps he senses something about OTOMAN.

What's your problem with firefighters, Vizier? You consider this as a dishonourable profession? I don't know how it is in Turkey but people here rely on firefighters to extinguish fires. Who do you rely on? Your local hodja running with a bucket of water?
