Kosovo officials shielded by U.S.
Australian analyst Whit Mason says that CoE investigator Dick Marty's report shows that the highest Pristina officials were above the law thanks to the U.S.
(KosovoCompromise Staff) Saturday, December 18, 2010
Mason said that the U.S. did not consciously support the crimes in Kosovo and did not wish to see it remain a 'banditocracy,' but it was what their policy in Kosovo led to, by trying to establish stability without changing the situation in the field.
"Since the very beginning, the public was under the impression that ethnic Albanians are the victims, and that all those who fought to free ethnic Albanians were innocent and therefore did not do things which we now know they did," the analyst with the Australian Institute of International Affairs stressed.
He said it was exceptionally difficult to carry out criminal proceedings in Kosovo, as the foreign public was not well acquainted with that environment, and added that it was very difficult to protect witnesses in Kosovo, because it was a small territory where everyone knew each other.

Better late than never.
I believe that once it gets to hot to hold on to Thaci, the U.S and the U.K will drop him and his party like a hot potato. Hollbrook is dead, Albright and Clinton are very quiet and Obama doesent have the money to wage another humanitarian war.
An important question remains, why did the U.S allowthe evidance to remain and not destroy it?
The EU still hasn't allowed Turkey or Albania in, will they ever allow Kosovo in? Probably not. The EU is averese to Muslims entering as a majority in any given state or province.
The only thing I cant work out is Tadic's current behaviour to whats happened.

^ It could be the end of Thachi politically, but his criminal legacy will continue.
Fends, they are aiming at unification of kosovo with albania before any EU accession. Your right however, the EU do not want majority islamic states joining. Angela Merkel is deeply concerned about her country if Turkey joins the EU, why?, because many Turks will flock en-mass to Germany!.

USA have a very complicate procedure on such stuff i guess. They have many alternatives and have as much info at their disposal as they can. If the media STFU about ex-yu (which is what they do in the moment), it will be a piece of cake to let the public rest for a while, and then start a pounding hard-core anti-albania media campaign. They can do that easily, albanians are not yugoslavs, they are lonely, isolated, and pretty much weak. Unfortunately no one will listen to them. If the west did it with the Serbs (who had about 300,000,000 slavs on their side), they will do it easily with the albs.
