The way I see it is that sooner or later every diaspora is destined to die out for a simple fact that it is a diaspora and its (especially younger) members will seek to integrate fully into host culture. Its like Vegas, house (host culture) always wins at the end. typically, but not necessarily; see the jewish diaspora/s I would say it depends on factors such as numbers of diaspora, their concentration within given area, maintaining their own culture and, perhaps among most important one, the level of organization and mutual interaction between the members as well as intermarrying between each other.

Majority of the albanians intermarry in the states more so the ones from Macedonia and Kosova while the ones from Albania don't intermarry as much. I personally don't care. Marry a person you love and like.. But I would prefer a Albanian/balkan women as I don't think my family would be keen for me to marry a non-albanian or even balkan. as far as i know here in europe it's usually the albs from albania who intermarry alot while the ones from kosova and macedonia don't.

Don't get married at all! Most of the marriages I know from experience except maybe 1 are complete and utter failures.

Southern Ontario has many Macedonians marrying Italians, Serbs and Canadians. Recently many Serbs and Macedonians are getting together. But usually marrying a Canadian. Many of the Yugo girls go after Arab guys but usually never end up marrying them.

^^^ same thing here in Greece, from dark short parents, you have blonde, blue eyed babies, fokking strange. now things changed a lot. new generation is taller and blonder. Actually, now that I think about it, the Italians at this wedding I just went to may have been northern Italians. Which is why they were taller and lighter than usual. Also, I noticed that many of the Italians really like Macedonian music. The wedding started off with Italian music initially but as soon as they played some nice Macedonian folk music, many of the Italians joined in and some were dancing near their tables. They are happy people the Italians.

Do they get absorbed back into the Macedonian or Serbian, etc. culture or do they then become general "Canadians"?

When its a Maco marrying anything else but a Mac/Serb they are Canadian as it gets. They usually dont care about tradition or culture, know about five words "kako si' "fala" and "dobro". Macedonians here are the worst out of all the Yugo's when it comes to keeping their tradition. Children of Croat and Serb mixed marriages usually are proud to say they are half. Sadly for the Macedonians the father usually doesnt give a crap and chooses to forget his roots.

"I'm not from Thomastown, lol. I'm close to the city. But where are you located that there are so few Anglo's?"
I was saying Nikola, up in your side there isn't many Anglo's, about 5% of population. I'm from the South East, near Nar Nar Goon (lol love that name), my area is predominately Anglo Saxon.
"I see the Anglo's with Asian's a lot too. But what can we expect? Melbourne feels like a majority Asian city these days. Especially on a weekend. When I walk around the city on a weekend, I feel like I'm in China. I'd say that 70% of the people I see are Asians."
I know man, l think the same also, why can't we have our own towns, like their china town etc....

I suppose the Serb population in USA is much larger than Serbs here in Australia, we are only 100,000 and we are spread out all over Australia, probably the reason why we don't have our Serbia town. The Vardarians are around 80,000, but they are bunched together here in melbourne in the Northern suburbs.
The largest group of Ex-Yugoslavs in Australia are the Croats at around 130,000, then Serbs at 100,000, the Vardarians at approx 80,000, the Bosniaks at 30,000, the slovenes at 20,000 and montenegrins at 5,000.

The whole concept of marrying out is pretty much not even a factor among most Americans. For instance, my wife is part Irish, Norwegian, German, English. I am Croat, Italian and a big ? On my moms side as she was adopted. Now that is inter-marrying.

Krivo, l've seen wikipedia and her figures of up to 3 - 4 million diaspora Serbs, l have a feeling this is BS. I'd be more inclined to believe a figure of around 1.5 to 2 million.

Krivo, one other thing l've noticed here in Australia, there is a sizeable chunk of Serbs that have converted to the Pentecoastal division of christianity....... Are Serbs doing the same over in the US, converting to Pentecoastal?
