On the rise? How so? "From the European Heritage Alliance. WWW.EUROHERITAGE.NET Albania is one of the two poorest nations in Europe, second only to Moldova, and is akin to walking through a surly slum in Central America or Mexico outside of its capital of Tiranë. It is also the sole Islamic nation of Europe. It emerged from nearly five decades of autarkic communist dictatorial rule under Enver Hoxha (Hod-ja) into a struggling and corrupt democratic state by 1992. This drastic transition of this relatively young geographically-European nation is apparent in its depressing and deep poverty. It and its ethnic group (Albanians) are seemingly hated all across Europe as backward criminals who settle in other nations to receive their social benefits. Their identity as Muslims also fuels this clash, as Albania was the only state of Europe to fully submit to the Jihad of the Turks during 400 years of foreign rule...."hahaha that gave me a chuckle or two, macedonia is like a terminally ill patient begging to have the plug pulled, do you really think there's going to be a macedonia in another few years? your nation is a travesty, the drag queen of the balcans

It was a socialist state and a federation made up of six socialist republics: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia. Serbia, in addition, included two autonomous provinces of Vojvodina and Kosovo and Metohia.-yes budal ....like your link says SFRY 6 republics and 2 provinces whoever inserted that in addition to serbia can ...... jadi lajno

And who's going pull the plug on Macedonia? As far as I know, none of its neighbors want war with it.

macedonia will eventually implode, it is inevitable, and everyone around it will get a chunk How is it inevitable? The whole world aside from a few insignificant nations recognize the Macedonian borders/culture/identity.

^Plus if the Albanians decide to revolt in Macedonia (which I don't think they will, they have an excellent deal within Macedonia) it'll be a whole different ball game. The NLA had all of the KLA's former weaponry while all Macedonia had was some handouts from Serbia and the Ukraine. They'll be better prepared, not to mention the fact that this time around they'll get a lot more help from Serbia considering we have similar problems with Albanians in our country.

^They had more than just handouts. Helicopters from Greece (go figure) and many more countries than the two you listed gave them arms. They still couldn't handle the guerillas. But I do agree in that I don't see any conflict brewing in the near future.

^The helicopters were from Ukraine and they were deployed in the final days of the war. In fact, I've read sources stating that in the first phase of the war Macedonian reservists were actually using bolt action rifles.
But yea, lets hope it doesn't come to war.

The Macedonians have proven themselves in Afghanistan and Iraq, receiving numerous recognitions from our allies. If war comes again in Macedonia, it will be very dangerous for the shiptars. Not only are we better equipped, and better trained, we are in a far better position politically to counter shiptar propaganda.

the current dwellers of macedonia have as much right to call themselves macedonian as the present dwellers of greece calling themselves greek, i see very little distinction...both countries are wrong and it is a travesty but there you go, if one is allowed to steal the glory of an ancient civilisation, so should be other one
