Dozens of citizens injured in clashes with KFOR
The night at the barricade near the village of Jagnjenica in northern Kosovo went peacefully after a day of clashes and high tension.
(KosovoCompromise) Tuesday, November 29, 2011
A large number of local citizens gathered to spend the night at the barricade.
Meanwhile, KFOR soldiers formed a cordon and stood in full combat gear on the place where they on Monday morning used force to remove the barricade held for four months by Serbs, on the road toward an ethnic Albanian village.
The soldiers also put up barbed wire between them and the citizens. As the night fell on Monday, the Serbs gathered there set on fire a truck loaded with logs that they previously used as a barricade, while the NATO troops torched two tents that the citizens used as shelter while they manned the road block.
There were clashes at the site during the whole day yesterday. Soldiers armed to the teeth responded to every move made by the citizens by firing tear gas, pepper spray, rubber bullets, stun grenades and water canons. The citizens responded by throwing stones.
There were injuries on both sides, but none life-threatening.
The mayor of nearby Zubin Potok, Slaviša Ristic, on several occasions spoke to KFOR representatives, asking them to withdraw to their initial positions, and free up the only road that Serbs have been using since 1999 to travel between Zvečan and Zubin Potok.
KFOR demanded that the citizens should withdraw so they could set up a checkpoint at the location where the barricade stood. There was no agreement and both sides remained entrenched in their positions.
They spent the night under these circumstances, and that is how the day started, bringing with it many uncertainties. There is yet no solution in sight for the crisis that broke out after the violent removal of the barricade on Monday morning.
KFOR said that their operation was to ensure the freedom of movement, which local Serbs said the troops already enjoyed. The citizens believe the operation was aimed at causing unrest, that could then be blamed on the Serbs.
KFOR in the meantime issued a warning that they would not remove themselves from the road, that they did not have full freedom of movement, and that they would ensure it "by all available means".

Not to be offensive, but it seems to be a common thing among Serbs that they are paranoid or can't accept responsibility.

^ i don't understand?
Serbs can accept responsiblity and that responsibility is to govern ones self. Why should they accept responsibility from an alien government, why can't the international community accept their wishes? You tell me Moe!

You forget that these Serbs are living on their rightful land, and that foreigners have come and are trying to dictate what they can or cannot do. What is their (KFOR) justification for not letting go of the North if it is peace and stability they want ? These Serbs have lived under Serbian borders for centuries, who has the right to tell them who their leaders-State are now ?

At the moment, KFOR is the law (kinda). And provoking KFOR through a "peaceful" protest is gonna get KFOR upset. If KFOR just let Albanians and Serbs do what they want, there would be more violence then there is right now. Why can't the Albanians and Serbs in Kosovo just sit back and wait for KFOR to set up their checkpoints, then they can camp there, if they're allowed.

They are not to force the installation of Albanian border police. This is why the barricade started in the first place. According to the resolution they drafted only Serbian police can monitor those grounds and also all other major border crossings but we are not talking about those. There was never a border-crossing there ever, why install them ? They are in-directly recognizing Kosovo, when it is stated officially everywhere that they must be neutral.

KFOR was sent to Kosovo to help with ethnic tensions, and by setting up barricades they are stopping people from either side coming over vandalising, terrorising and maybe even murdering each other. If it weren't for the barricades, there would be higher crime rates around the border between Kosovo and the Serb enclaves. Have you seen there objectives? ... * Protection of patrimonial sites * Border security* Interdiction of cross-border weapons smuggling ... (there's more)

There is a huge difference. KFOR does have the right to be there, and this is not what I was saying. KFOR is pushing to have Kosovo Albanian police monitor those grounds without consulting with the Serbs-Serbia. KFOR is in-directly recognizing Kosovo. KFOR should be equally working for Serbia as they are for the Albanians. They are breaching they own laws.

UNres1244 states;
6. After withdrawal, an agreed number of Yugoslav and Serbian personnel will be permitted to return to perform the following functions: - Liaison with the international civil mission and the international security presence; - Marking/clearing minefields; - Maintaining a presence at Serb patrimonial sites; - Maintaining a presence at key border crossings.

That's after the withdrawal of the international military presence (KFOR). And since the resolution does not specify a time-range, KFOR could be there forever, in theory. Did you read the point before that one? 5. Establishment of an interim administration for Kosovo as a part of the international civil presence under which the people of Kosovo can enjoy substantial autonomy within the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, to be decided by the Security Council of the United Nations. The interim administration to provide transitional administration while establishing and overseeing the development of provisional democratic self-governing institutions to ensure conditions for a peaceful and normal life for all inhabitants in Kosovo. This means that Kosovo can have it's own government and govern Kosovo, but eventually has to be re-integrated into the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

They are talking about the withdrawal of the Serb forces which promted NATO to stop bombing BECAUSE of the resolution. You are trying to punch holes in which you are not succeeding. Serbia is THE sole-successor of Yugoslavia. Remember we went through this already ?

Where in that document does it say with the withdrawal of the Yugoslavian forces, comes the re-integration of Kosovo into FRY. It talks about the withdrawal of an international security force.

I am talking about the border crossings. And you`re missing the point again. KFOR is in-directly following Prisitna`s orders, indirectly recognizing the government. KFOR has no right to go against the peoples`will here, without consulting with these same people. KFOR`s work is strictly one-sided, when it can only be neutral. The solution is simple, let go of the North and the Serbs will be semi-satisfied temporarily. In the meantime they`re will be no bloodshed.

UN resolution 1244 allows a temporary government of Kosovo, and KFOR works in accordance to that government. I can't tell Kosovo what to do. All I'm saying is Kosovo Serbs shouldn't provoke KFOR, and KFOR shouldn't be so rough on the Kosovo Serbs.

That bit made me laugh. if you had the slightest pro-yugoslav feelings as you claim to have, you would be crying right now, not laugh. If Croats/Boslims/Bulgarians/Ukranians/Slovaks/etc... were under similar genocidal pressure forced by non-slavs, i would cry for them. You are a liar.
