Aid for Kosovan Serb minority but no Russian passports
Russian laws do not allow for the granting of citizenship to Kosovo Serbs, but Russia will find other ways to support the suppressed minority, the Foreign Ministry spokesman has said.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Aleksandr Lukashevich said at a press briefing on Thursday that Russia received the message of the group of ethnic Serbs from Kosovo, who asked that they be granted Russian citizenship as they faced constant repressions at home. The diplomat said this request cannot be fulfilled, because the Russian law does not allow it.
However, Lukashevich said that Russian President Dmitry Medvedev ordered to boost the support to Kosovo Serbs in other forms. In particular, Russia will send humanitarian aid to the region and the first aircraft with such aid has already been sent. Russia will also make more effort within the UNESCO program aimed at restoration of destroyed Orthodox sites in Kosovo, the diplomat said.
In early November 2011, around 21,000 Serbs from Kosovo, both residents of the regions and refugees, appealed to Russia’s lower house of parliament for help in obtaining Russian citizenship. The group named protection of their security as the main motive.
The group had been founded by Zlatibor Djordjevic, a former attorney for the Democratic Party of Kosovo and Metohija. Djordjevic said that the international peacekeeping force could not provide enough protection for the ethnic Serbs. “Since the arrival of the peacekeeping forces, who are supposed to protect us, more than 1,000 Serbs have been killed. We are completely without rights, we risk elimination. Even in Serbia there are parties calling for recognition of Kosovo’s independence,” the activist said.
A similar initiative was put forward by a group of Serbian leaders in 2010.
Serbian officials have disapproved of the move. “It would be much wiser to take part in the coming parliamentary elections, and cast a ballot for those who would protect their interests better,” Serbian State Secretary for Kosovo and Metohija, Oliver Ivanovic has said.
Some Russian MPs initially saw the Serbs’ move as positive and useful. Head of the Russian Communist party Gennady Zyuganov stated the request should be given the green light.
However, experts from the parliamentary committee for constitutional law pointed out that the Lower House is the wrong body to address for citizenship.

I watched this on Serbian news. Question; if Americans are helping Albanians, and Russians are helping Kosovo Serbs, then who is helping the other minorities in Kosovo such as Turks, Bosniaks, Croats, Gorani, Macedonians, Bulgarians, etc?

You should be ashamed of yourself Oliver, neither you nor your friends in that god forsaken government have done anything for the protection of Serbs in your own country. Kosovo Serbs are too smart for you, they don't need anymore time wasting, time wasting will ensure the extinction of the native and original people of that region.
PS F the Serbian government, its useless!

I'm not sure if there is enough room to fit this information in your pre-defined stance mind, THE ALBANIANS WANT A MONO-ETHNIC STATE, all ethnicities in their plan are to be exterminated. Why do you think Gorani, Gypsies sided with Serbs?
PS There are no Bulgarian minority in Kosovo i Metohija, never was, they only claimed the the region up to Novi Pazar as pure Bulgarians who were Serbianised, in fact they claim 50% of modern Serbia as Bulgaria.....really the other way round.

^My brother in law (from Gjakova) says there is a sizeable Bulgarian minority in Kosova. As far as gypsies siding with serbs.....haha those people go with the flow. They foresaw Serbia maintaining Kosova, nothing more than kissing ass.

Don't lie Shqipni, there are no Bulgarians, l'm a kosovo serb l know your people and your culture. Bulgarians are claiming my Torlakian Gorani as Bulgarian, who unfortunately, were partially Albanianised in the 18th century via Albanian pressure.
PS Why did Albanians in Dragash sabotage bank/s that Gorani use?

Your brother in-law is wrong Shqipni. Gorani's only supporter is Serbs, Albanians want to completely Albanianise them. We had Albanians here like Toskali, Donnie and even Rex boasting how the Serbian Gorani (from Albania) are accepting and converting as Albanians. One day Shqipni, things will change, you Albanians will laugh hard at us today, there is a god.

Are you telling me that there are absolutely no Bulgarians in Kosovo? They are a few, many protested against the Western presence along with the Serbs. You can find many videos on youtube showing other minorities getting together in Kosovo protesting the bombardment. Many non-Albanians have been pushed towards the North or have left for Serbia-Belgrade.

^Gorani in Albania are a very small minority. Assimilation seems inevitable. Why would I laugh about their assimilation? I would rather they distinguish themselves to what they truly are.

^ Uz, Kosovo is a NATO state or to a lesser degree a colony of USA.
I don't fear Russians at all, l rather have kosovo a Russian State than NATO or USA.

They would exploit it the same way. Only Serbs have the right to handle Kosovo, and Russia seems to agree. The house of cards will soon tumble on Thacis head. Trust me what I am telling you. I am not happy to say it but the Balkans is on the verge of rockin again.

"They are a few, many protested against the Western presence along with the Serbs."
So your telling Moe there is Bulgarians in kosovo? Uz there are NO Bulgarians in Kosovo, the Bulgarian government officially recognises the Serbian Torlakian Gorani as ethnic Bulgarians. This stems from the Bulgarian propaganda of the late 19th century. I cannot believe the blind arrogance from the BuLgari meddling into Serbian affairs and claiming whoever they want is theirs.
When l read the following, it makes my blood boil because Serbs have MORE legitimacy to western bulgaria than they do to any serbian lands:
Bulgarian MPs, led by IMRO leader, Krassimir Karakachanov demanded that Pristina should recognize the rights of the Bulgarians in Kosovo, and this must be the first condition Sofia sets before acknowledging the independence of the province. In Kosovo there are over 20 000 Gorans who are ethnic Bulgarians. Representatives of the Goran community have for long insisted on Sofia's assistance for receiving the status of a minority. Experts believe the best moment comes now for protecting the Gorans' interests as the time when Kosovo will break from Serbia is approaching. It is important that the Bulgarian Government takes a firm stand and be insistent. "The authorities in Sofia should make a move and protect the interests of the Bulgarians in Kosovo exactly now because a new constitution is being prepared in Pristina. And this constitution will by all means contain an article on minorities, the Bulgarian including. Sofia must lobby for it," representatives of the Gorans association told The Standart. The State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad is informed about the association and has contacted its head.

Brate Uz, how will they exploit it. Russia needs Serbia to be in the Balkans, but Tadich and his criminal gang is bowing to our very enemies feet, kissing it and getting raped up the backside.

Serbia should not jump out of ones pocket, to jump into anothers`. Serbia needs to be sovereign, become self-sufficient and BEGIN TO ENCOURAGE-PROMOTE THE DIASPORA TO COME BACK. If they `saved` Kosovo for us, then we would owe them huge and FINALLY for once Russia will have a legitimate claim in saying `they saved Serbs-Serbia`. It doesn`t have to go like that, Serbia can help the Kosovo Serbs the same way Russia can. Why isn`t this government not engaging with the people and organise `non-political` help ? -rhetorical question btw lol Serbia has the capability in sending aid too. Right ? The people in Serbia need to start their own move towards helping the Serbs in Kosovo. Money-donations is one thing but physical pressence and tools can really do something more. In my opinion they should do something big, big enough that people around would be interested in maybe hearing our side.
