Radical movement stages protest in Priština Source: B92, Beta
PRIŠTINA -- Ethnic Albanian Self-Determination Movement activists have launched violent demonstration in Priština angered by a meeting between Hashim Thaci and Ivica Dačić.
They hurled "rotten tomatoes and rocks" at the police, which responded by throwing tear gas among the protesters.
Beta news agency is reporting injuries on both sides, but said that their number "could not be determined at this time".
Priština-based Albanian language newspaper Koha Ditore is reporting that the clashes broke out on Monday when the activists attempted to charge into the Kosovo assembly building.
They are shouting anti-Serbia slogans, and carrying banners reading, "No negotiations with Serbia", and, "Unification with Albania, instead of agreement with Serbia".
According to the demonstration's organizers, 33 people have been arrested.
The protest is led by the leader of the radical movement, Albin Kurti, and members of the assembly from the party's ranks.
The local media are also saying that Kurti and two others were detained and then released, while police are out in force securing the buildings that house the assembly and the government in Priština.
The organizers stated that they "did not intend to enter the buildings, but to prevent entrance into them, and at the same time prevent their functioning". The reason for all this in because they see Priština's negotiations with Belgrade as "treason".

It's a storm in a water glass. In Kosovo there are other Powers whose decide what to be done and what not to be done. No one asks the sips for any decision makings. The fate of Kosovo is from outside. This poor backward sh.thole region has no future ahead but poverty.

According to World Bank statistics, about 34-48 per cent of Kosovo's citizens live below the poverty line, and 12 percent in extreme poverty. Poverty rate is higher in large families, households with a large number of unemployed, those with low education and female heads.
By Nora Sahatciu, UN Coordination expert in Pristina: «Although data are the three previous years and the World Bank is expected soon with new statistics, we currently have a flux between 34 per cent and 48 per percent relative poverty, ie, people who live with 1.5 euro per day, while extreme poverty with people living with 90 cents per day is 12 to 14 percent. Vary depending on data from UN agencies and are made prior census estimates. However, the World Bank will come out with new report in November of this year. '
According Sahatciu coordinator, the reasons why Kosovo is faced with such poverty figures are limited financial resources and the global crisis. «But not always solved problems with money. Many things that we can do with the existing financial and natural resources. Biggest obstacles are the laws, which, although designed with the latest European standards are not enforced at the local level. Hence the delay in bringing dignified life for the citizens of Kosovo. '
According to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, families headed by mothers, low levels of education and lack of development of remote areas, are factors of increased poverty. But based on reducing the number of households receiving social assistance, poverty has decreased compared to the past, claims Behxhet Gaxhiqi, adviser to Kosovo MPMS. «In 2008, we had 37,000 families on social assistance, and now we have 32 000, that is 5000 less. This happened after proper verification by the Center for Labor and Social Welfare families really meet the criteria. '
Inflation almost tripled in recent months and the unemployment rate of 45% increasing to 73 percent among young people - 57 per cent of women and 41 percent of men, deepen poverty. Meanwhile, efforts to reduce these figures, whether by donors or government budget, continue, says z.Gaxhiqi.
In the context of efforts to mobilize domestic and international institutions to end poverty in Kosovo, organizations and various United Nations agencies under the motto «Just your voice and works together can put an end to poverty» recorded for 7-ten times week for Combating Poverty. Suart, the region of kosovo is isolated, America and her subordinates arn't going to invest in the region for nothing, they will invest ONLY for her to make money. Why hasn't the regions poverty IMPROVED after 1999 or after 2008? Instead, has gone further downward!
What is even worse, there is no infrastructure, nothing! Kosovo has mineral wealth, yes, and the most sort after, Gold, is based in the NORTH! USA and her slaves will extract this wealth from the ground, leaving nothing for the PEOPLE of the region.....all she will leave is WASTE, waste that is comparible to industrial polution.
The idiots here, except for you, don't see why depleted uranium was USED in Kosovo....yes, it was used for military but if the USA loved K.Albs this would not have been used! It basically tells me they don't give a crap for Albs in Kosovo and their FUTURE!

Indeed Novi, USA and West do not care for any other nation nor any other christians living abroad. Today's policy in West (especial USA) is made on rising their wealth upon the poor, rip off their resources to fill the gap of their inflation. Kosovo is the last thing in West's mind when it comes to finance on infrastructure. The foreign policy of USA is a threat on entire World. Let me remind you that where ever USA's Secretary stamps, she/he leaves a loop hole of destruction in economy and stability. Kosovo in the Balkans was created to leave instability and conflicts for this Century and we the other nations of the Balkans will suffer for it. If you open the borders of Kosovo (lift the visa regime) the whole herd will leave because poverty is a stigmata of the day.
