I'm trying to find out a last name we had in Kosovo from the late 18century from a village around Urosevac/Ferizaj. I have the first names of my descendants, but not their last. i do know they owned land with a pasture and must have paid taxes to someone (turks etc). Anyway of obtaining this type of info from Turkey, if so, where/who do i contact etc? Thx

We have 14 churches (2 Monasteries) in the Chicagoland area, and another 5 right across the border in Indiana. Between Wisconsin, Chicago and Indiana there are well over 200K Serbs.
While there are that many churches they're generally empty, and the summer church festivals are not as packed as one would think based on the number of Serbs here. Nonetheless, many American Serbs (3rd gen etc), do stay true to their faith/church. In general, the number of Orthodox Christians in Chicago easily exceeds 1 million.

I don't know if its that as much as people having learned a lot about balkan history, that's made them realize they're roots have always been there.
Bosnians and Croats have like 30/40% of illyria genes in them. Makes sense to me, because many folks from Bosnia I've met in the states look very very close to Montenegrins and Albanians from Mont & Kos.
I think 50yrs from now when the economy there is better and people have a future they'll stop fighting about farm land that nobody harvests anymore.

Stop calling us enemies!!! We're not raping your women or killing family clans and children. We gave your neighbor brothers bread when they decided to leave on THEIR OWN during the '99 conflict.
that's bs...no 50% of slavs in mk are from greece. most of those went to austrialia and pirin area of bulgaria. some went to mk and serbia's vojvodina, but that's it.
most of us are illyrian/thracia in origin, so we're not newcomers either. so by your thought process you think if you just picked up and moved to Trebinje (Republika Srpska), you have claim because that was illyrian way back when?

Being that he is ethnic Albanian, then it shouldn't be a big deal. All Albanians were united under UCK, so why would anyone be surprised? If anyone should be lynched, it should be the govt who put him in that position in the first place.
Reconcilation should be a priority between both groups in MK. No one is cleansing anyone out of their villages, so therefore, they've got to get along period. For the most part, from what I've heard most do anyways.
We cannot ignore the fact that there's roughly 700k Albanians in Macedonia, and they're not going anywhere. Many of them have roots there since Tzar Dusan, many came during communist times from Albanian and Serbia's southern province (KiM) and of course they had a HUGE birthrate explosion post WWII up until about 10yrs ago.
MK needs to get rid of those stupid Greek statues, change its name to Paeonija and get into that stupid EU....then there will be peace. I'm just being a realist. The Serbian King had a chance to send ALL Albanians to Turkey 100yrs ago, but he was stingy and didn't want to pay for their housing set up there. The deal was then axed! Let's blame all those stupid fkn Serbians in Beograd who allowed a Croat leader Tito to fk Serbia through those internal banovina borders and allowing there to be provinces in the south and north!! Serbs are their own worst enemy. Until there is true unity everything will always continue to fall short and backstabbed! Dodik is a true leader and Albanians know who to stay united regardless of religion and dialects (Gheg/Tosk). Serbs will outcast you if you use the wrong form of a 'case' in a sentence.

My reference to 'garbage' is the lay of the land. It is garbage!! People throw away throw stoves, cars etc in a forest next to the village. What's that all about? Of course, for a westerner seeing that it's a bit shocking.
When they can throw bs money on buildings, statues (that have ZERO historical basis on the people there), but leave garbage and dead animals along side road.....that's fk'd up! Mayb they need to stop building all these unnecessary churches everywhere and focus on helping all the people.

i think in south serbia they use majority macedonian/bulgarian words, or old slavonic works.
ive always wondered where the definitive articles came from, but not even my bulgarian friend can explain. as someone from northern macedonia, who uses 'sakam', 'razbiram' etc, I went to a bulgarian restaurant and could not understand anything!! my friend and i speak english, because we don't understand one another. now, i understand serbian 100%, mayb because ive developed an ear for it, but our accent/dialect is that of sumadija and south serbia. plus the breaks between words when speaking are the same, so it's easier to follow and grasp.
bulgarian sounds very russian in their accent, so I think their language has changed greatly to what it sounded before the russian influence of the last century.
i did not know Ceca can speak south serbian, but i guess she would since she's from an area near Leskovac.

macedonia does not apply to us Slavs of that region nor the albanians from MK.
the whole thing comes down to trust. neither side have trusted one another, and sadly what happened in 2000 made things worse. regardless, the country is a garbage pit of the balkans (other than Ohrid).
i can't believe how expensive tickets are from the US to fly to Skopje....$1700. When I heard how much one of my family members paid, I could not believe it. You can go to Cancun for half that price and everything included.
don't y i come on this forum...that place disgusts me.

UZ is 100% correct. I whose parents come from Sarplanina, MK, would feel very uncomfortable/embarrassed carrying a MK flag! We have NO historical right to ancient MK, whether they were Greeks or not!
I always say the country should have been called Vardarija or Paonija. It makes sense and it wouldn't have excluded any of the minorities there.

Albania 'natural' will never come to reality on a map. As far as the percentage from the census, I think that Albanians should participate instead of protesting the census. Otherwise 25-27% is what it is.
Like I said, I was for an Albanian mod on this forum and even went as far as saying the slaying of 5 Maks was an isolated incident. I don't discriminate against albanians, only the individuals that spread hate towards the Orthodox Slav population.

Yes, that was 100% me Rex. Why? What was the point of the video? It appeared the message you were promoting was to show how many albanian men could 'easily' over throw FYROM. Therefore I had no choice but to delete as you were threatening. I'm surprised by you, I thought you were more of the tolerant Mak Albanians around here!
BTW, I was one of the mods who voiced albanians should be mods in the Macedonian forum.
