Its as Pyrros says...."Rumi" means "Greek"....next to "Yunani".
The Turks do also have the two terms "Yunan" and "Rum" for us..
When the Arabs came for the first time in contact with us in history we didnt call ourselves "Ellines" but "Romaioi" (or "Romioi) thus they called us "Rumi". "Rumeli" means "land of the Romaioi/Greeks" and means European part of the Ottoman Empire (the balkan peninsula).
So its actually perverse to call the Greeks of todays Greece "Yunanlar" (Ioanians) and the Greeks of the Polis, Anatolia and Cyprus "Rumlar"...

you can count yourself how many times they are mentioned.....maybe you didn't even watch it after the first mention ...who knows ... [youtube] hahaha koita ton tsompano... This documentary consists of eight (!) serials each of it lasting about 50 minutes. And you come with a little piece of 5 minutes?? Yes these are most probably the only 5 minutes in which the Arvanites were mentioned....you are picking 5 minutes to explain to us our country, our nation, our revolution? You are totally clueless, you are uneducated and stupid at that....dont keep yourself busy with such things...you are simply not able to understand them because you have kept the mind of the albanian villager and you will never get rid of it...

None has been assimilated because that requires a different consciousness...which has never existed. The Arvanites especially have always been siding with Greece...never with Albania. We have for example the slavophones of Macedonia who did sometimes oppose Greece (but still many didnt) and who say im "Macedonian" (meaning "not Greek"). The Arvanites have always been Greek, they fought for this country, Greece is their country, not any other. Who the f.uck are you to come and tell them where they belong to...keep to your goats and sheeps and leave them alone..
yes, yes, I have seen the docu and this is why Im telling you this...the docu is saying the same. As it seems you havent watched it but you did only practise cherry picking...thats not very scientific. Altogether we can say that the Arvanites were explicitely mentioned only ion a few sentences...why? Because their otherness is simply not worth mentioning...they were the same as any other Greek.

No you are not well informed....we had Greek educated people who lived in western Europe and campaigned for a free Greek national state...our revolution and the idea of it came up by our own people....not by foreigners. And what were your ancestors doing at this time? They were sucking turkish balls and groaning at the same time...
We have also Pontians, Cretans, Macedonians....as well as Arvanites with their own language which is not part of the Greek language but so what? Read what I wrote above...its still valid.

You took, I took...arent you tired of these foolish arguments? I mean if you could only prove your claims...but you cant..
Accept it...the Arvanites are Greek and were Greek...full Greeks. Their origins are from todays southern albania, they were once arvanitophone but did never feel sth else than....Roman-Byzantine...and then Greek. Just because the majority of you did get the idea of forming an own artificial nation in the 20th century (for the sake of the Italians) it doesnt mean that the others must be also involved in that disaster of yours...

Religion was everything at this time..
Blood? According to dna tests there is no recognizable difference between the arvanites and the Grecophone people of the Peloponnese...arvanitophone and grecophone people did often intermix...
language...the only similarity most probably..
culture? what has an arvanitis in common with a kosovo albanian in this field? nothing...what does he have in common with his grecophone neighbour? they are dancing the same dances with the same music..
