Pyrros:
Pyrros' prva put za jugoslavija - Review
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, its almost a week since i returned to athens
from beograd's aerodrom, and since my thoughts have
settled down i thought i should share my ekspirium!
I stayed in Brcko District for a week with one day
trip to sarajevo for business (greek embassy).
All i gotta say is "IMPRESSED".
By the quality of the people, by the fine way police
work, by the ultra high tech public sector (IDs with
barcodes, and central databases keeping scanned
all old yugoslavian papers), by the fact that
drivers stop in front of pedestrians,
by the factories in tuzla, and more!
Well not entirely (but mainly) serbian,
Brcko is in my heart.
As far as sarajevo is concerned, its an impressive
city, with kind people, they didnt have a problem
with me being greek or my wife serbian.
Of course she speaks jekavica so there was
no problem.
People said hvala and molim even in arizona
market!!! (IMPRESSIVE)
The kindness of serbs as well as muslims put me into
thought: How could these guys fight one another.
Or was this war funken "imported" in order
to "lower" the price of any potential investments...
I didnt dare to ask.
No one liked politics there.
On my road back to beograd i had the chance to
drive till zemun (before we got lost and almost
drove to nis, the sign sais centrum-nis, and then
suddenly no centrum only nis!!!).
The architecture of Beograd from what i saw
is .... simply art.
Then i got back to airport, and returned home.
Both Serbia and Srpska Republic seemed very rich
lands. With Sava and dunav playing a definite role,
and with rains till start of summer, all these
valeys are really fruitful.
(I wonder what the funk my ancestors had in mind
when they decided to settle down in todays greece).
The TV of jugoslavia (except HRTV) is fine.
No cheap rabbish like in greece.
The people are serious.
They act professionally.
My final conclusion is that either jugoslavija
is not balkans, or that balkans is something
different from what we have in mind.
Special points should be a close lesson for a lot of greeks, who desperately try to find "paradigms" in north/western europe.
So follow albos, (as well greeks)
dont try to judge from what you see on tv, or what you read.
In Bosnia i realized that newspapers and tv are always
on paid duty.
And to you yugoslavians:
You are of an upper class in the balkans.
Dont get invloved with talks with ignorant
albanians from i dont know where.
