The first is a picture of my mom who is rather exotic looking for an Albanian, or so I think. I'm the guy in the second picture. I don't know how you would classify me but I think my features are more common among Albanians. I think many Westernized Albanians are rather difficult to identify, especially in America because of its diversity. What's your opinion??

I have very very rarely, if ever, seen an Albanian mother like yours... your face is very Albanian looking though.
I would guess she comes from northern Europe rather than Albania... amazing...

your mom looks like some northern european woman...could be german as well. Such appearance is usually due to germanic genes. Its not that rare among albanians as you believe. I have here neighbours from Kosovo their children are 100% blond like Adolf Hitler wanted the German children to be....
as for you i would say some mixture...med, alpine, dinaric...

Your mother somewhat reminds of serbian actress Milena Dravic: Couldn't find larger pics...

Nice comparison with Milena Dravic
Both appear mainly some kind of variation of Noric (light Dinaric variant).

Such appearance is usually due to germanic genes. Kaiser Wilhelm II agrees!

Prijesdardanian is right. In Kosova that type of woman is very common. There is nothing northern european about that type either, its just an Albanian variation (proof being how undoubtably Albanian he son looks).
The comparison with the ugly face of the shkine is horible though. Dravic looks like a russo-mongol with her flat face and evil eyes. Seriously, if anyone questions which nation is evil and good, just compare those two faces, which happen to be fairly typical of their people. The Albanian one has that honest look inherent in most Albanians while the Serb face has the look of an evil witch, the face that comes to mind when one thinks of a shkine. (wtf, Dravic isn't even Dinaric, what an idiot)

lol...I dont think the Balkan's environment makes people look like that...its rather a Sweden or Danmark...northern Germany or Poland that does. Any form of appearance is the result of environmental "treatment"....you cannot look like that if you have been living in the Balkans for thousands of years (you= the particular genes that gives you that look).

Your right and wrong. Meaning that type has been in the area for a few thousand years but most likely evolved more north. The point being its not the result of a medieval Germanic invasion of the Albanian mountains, its been their long and before since the formation of the Albanian ethnos, making it an Albanian type and hence it being recognizably so.

A rough comparison being the way Milena Dravic looks typically Serbian even though that type is nowhere near native to the Balkans (think north-EAST). Take into consideration the Serbs are newcomers themselves ofcourse.

I agree with Kastorianos she is very 'Scandinavian' like. There is a lot of northern influence there.

Oh Prussia, how I miss thee. Thy were a bane to Slavs... a protector of Europe and an example to us all...
Why did you let an Austrian and a Bavarian born ideology take you over?

Always remember: The house of Habsburg was Holy Roman Emperor for hundreds of years, not some Brandenburgian or Prussian dynasty.
Still, the most brilliant kings of Romania were from the house of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen from Prussia. So maybe Kastorianos is right. HAIL PRUSSIA!

(wtf, Dravic isn't even Dinaric, what an idiot) Plisbardhi also Coon said that type in Europe most common is in North Albanoa/Kosova (in his book land of giants) that type also can find among Swiss, Austrians who have been influenced from Dinaric type. His mother look little like albanian politican Mimi Kodheli (she is from south Albania): but Kodheli look more perfect Dinaric than his mother
