And what are you? And laugh all you want but everything I sad was true, unless you have some alternate conpisracy theory version of history where Albania and Serbia went to war in 1998. Istina ima uvek dve strane to jest ona je u sredini. I kako ti mozes biti toliko siguran u to sta je istina a sta ne? To je vrovatno samo tvoje misljenje.

As for "Russians" in Georgia. Those are not really citizens of Russia, but Georgia. But either way anytime your ethnic group is in dangr anywhere you just attack the country? So Serbia should attack Norway if some Serbs get abused? Lol. . they hold russian passports, but are ethnic ossetins, who are an iranic speaking and type of peoples.

This will have to be played smart by Russia as it is clear its a setup by the Bush administration. Now since Mcain has publicly said that he will (if Elected) be harsher on the Russians you dont have to be a political proffesor to realize that those words will be deemed nesecary if Russia uses its military in a open War.
The Media itself is also suspicously quite could it be that they are waiting for Russia to engage before wall papering storys of how Russia is the evil now and they attacked a weaker opponent ?

The Georgians would have been stupid if they didnt predict this outcome. They obviously feel prepared if they are going through with it so I dont think Russians will simply be able to run through...

Georgian positions in Tskhinvalli and around it neutralized
Assistant Commander of the Russian Land Forces Igor Konashenkov stated tonight that units of the 58th Russian Army neutralized Georgian positions from which peace forces and capital of Ossetia were shot at. Konashenkov warned Tbilisi that the Russian Army will most resolutely cut off all activities of the Georgian Army in the zone under responsibility of the Russian peace keepers in South Ossetia. Officials in Tskhinvalli stated that there are no more Georgian forces in the city, that the shooting ceased and that people are leaving cellars and shelters. They say that the Russian armored units neutralized activities of the Georgian artillery and that they are still deployed throughout the city. Georgia accused Russia today of bombing an airport south of Tbilisi and positions of Georgian forces in the town of Gory, 25 kilometers south of Tskhinvalli. As communicated, there were at least 5 victims in the attacks and several Georgian military planes were destroyed. The Tbilisi officials communicated that in heavy clashes in Tskhinvalli and its vicinity at least 1.000 people were killed, and that the Georgian Army destroyed at least 5 Russia military planes.

Georgia calls for US and Western countries to intervene
August 8, 2008
In the Georgian autonomous region of South Ossetia, which proclaimed secession, there has been significant escalation of armed conflicts today. According to initial reports, several hundreds of people have been killed. Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili accused Russia of commencing a war against his country and called upon the USA and western countries to intervene. President of South Ossetia Eduard Kakojti stated that Georgian forces executed a brutal aggression with killing only today several hundreds of civilians. Russian media report that heavily armed Russian units entered the zone of conflict siding with the Ossetian armed forces. Military sources in Moscow said that in today’s escalation of conflicts, at least 10 members of the Russian peace forces were killed and over 30 wounded. At today’s session of the National Security Council, Russian President Dmitrij Medvedev warned that he will not allow killing of his citizens to go unpunished. Emphasizing that according to the Constitution he is obliged to protect life and dignity of Russian citizens wherever they are, Medvedev assessed that the Georgian Army committed an act of open aggression against Russian peace keepers and civilian population, thus most harshly violating international law and earlier peace agreements. Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin stated that a wide-scale war has commenced in South Ossetia and added that many volunteers are coming to this region. After phone conversation with US President George Bush, he said that he was pleased with Washington’s position that, as he stated, nobody in the West wants any escalation of war conflicts. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that Moscow has reports on ethnic cleansing Georgian forces are executing in villages of South Ossetia. He accused Georgian leadership that it ordered attacks against Russian peace keepers and civilian targets, including hospitals. State Department spokesperson Gonzalo Gallegos said that Washington supports sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and called upon all sides to cease fire immediately. NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hop Scheffer said that he informed Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili that the Western Alliance has no direct mandate in South Ossetia, but that it is in permanent contact with Russian officials, OSCE and other international factors. The Russian Agency Interfax reports that heavy smoke is rising above the capital of South Ossetia Tskhinvalli and that the level of destruction is significant. Occasional shooting can be still heard in the streets, while all inhabitants are still in cellars and improvised shelters.

I hope all of this will calm down soon and finally something would be done about this question which stands for at least 16 years. Now somebody will say Georgians are guilty or Ossetians are guilty, but it doesn't matter, the fact is that both did each other wrong and should solve this by diplomacy not by some Balkans/Caucasus recipe ethnic cleansing...
The thing which concerns Russia and USA the most in this region is the future of the Caspian-Black Sea pipeline, and both are in pat position since the region is influentally divided more then ever by foreign powers...
I respect Georgians, Ossetians and Abkhazians equally, have been influenced by their music quite, but I still consider Saakashvili to be an power addict fascist A*****e! This situation now by my opinion is of his making since he needs to create enemies to stay in power in Georgia... He is not just intimidating national minorities, but also his own people which are part of political opposition...

On a serious note, do you all believe Russia's actions are any different from the United States? They both act the exact same way on the global scene, choosing and picking fights, and supporting others. That's the way it's always been. Not saying what US did in Kosovo was wrong. But, you can justify things like that. If USA kills ever nigger on earth, is then then Russias right to choose to kill for example every arab on earth? 2 wrongs, doesnt make 1 RIGHT!

This is something for us to think about.

You wonna talk about IRONY, don't forget to mention Russia supporting Serbia's "integrity" but then trying to outright steal a piece of Georgia by suporting the rebels. American doesn't respect the territorial integrity or sovereignty of Serbia and has been trying to turn Russia into a puppet so Russia has every right to disband a government on its borders that is pro American and just fired upon Russian peacekeepers and Russ civilians.

Its quite ironic that Russia who branded itself as a protector of international law in the case of Kosovo would now not respect that same international law in reference to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia. Hypocrisy at its finest.

"Even Albania didn't outright declare war on Serbia to defend Kosovars. They gave support in various ways, but nothing like sending planes to bomb. " To be fair, after the collapse in 97 Albania was in no position to threaten anybody militarily, certainly not Serbia, weather they wanted to or not. I believe Russia has absolutely no intentions in sending ground forces in any part of Georgia other then South Ossetia, because that would play into the hands of the Georgian leadership and this whole total Mobilization thing that Georgia announced was also part of that strategy, to make it sound like Russia launched a massive Invasion of Georgia as opposed to the fact that relatively small elements(2-3 Battalions) of the 58th army have deployed in South Ossetia to augment the 2,500 MC troops in the region, with the stated goal of removing Georgian forces from South Ossetia back to the line they held before the Georgian Offensive. And from all reports, the Russians are actually restraining themselves, despite all the troubles the Russian army had in the past, its still perfectly capable of leveling a country the size of Georgia within days, just using conventional weapons. Tbilisi could have bean a heap of ruins within hours and the large concentrations of Georgian forces on the ground at the mercy of the Russian air force. But inflicting to heavy casualties on the Georgian army and damaging Georgian infrastructure to heavily make bad PR. And nobody can tell me that the Georgian offensive was a spontaneous reaction to some South Ossetia shelling of Georgian positions. This was a long planed and well executed offensive and using the opening day of the Olympics was no accident. And if the indiscriminate shelling of a civilian city with unguided MLRS rockets and heavy artillery is not a war crime I don’t know what is. Reports speak of 1000+ dead. That makes Dubrovnik look like a little skirmish. The Georgians are using the same tactics the Russians used in taking Grozny...which makes them looked bad, I don’t care what cause they fight for, and how pretty and professional their US Marine issued Uniforms look like

;D ;D ;D Russian planes attack Georgia : John McCain vows to defend Atlanta(Georgia Border) Ucs News- A RUSSIAN army convoy entered South Georgia last night and Russian planes attacked a Georgian military base, after Georgian forces captured the capital of the breakaway province. Upon hearing of the attacks Arizona Senter John McCain vowed to defend the Georgia capital of Atlanta "to the last man." McCain them demanded the Democratically controlled congress to pass a declaration of war against Russia. "This attack on American soil must not stand, The people of Georgia must be defended!" said McCain. Senator McCain's tough stance on the war in Georgia is seen as a great way for McCain to boost his foreign policy credentials while dealing with a domestic crisis. According to his staffers McCain called US President George W. Bush to request the Georgia National Guard be called from IraQ to defend Atlanta.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said "ethnic cleansing" had been reported in villages in Georgia McCain stated, "The number of refugees is growing. A humanitarian crisis is looming," "It's like the attack into Afghanistan in 1979. It's like Czechoslovakia when Soviet and Russian tanks moved in," McCain told Ucs News.
"If they get away with this in Georgia, the world will be in trouble." Mr McCain warned of "large-scale military intervention" and ordered a mass mobilization. www.unconfirmedsources.com/index.php?itemid=3461

I see you Aussie-scumbags bashing a country just because America is supporting it. Listen here, scumbags: Georgia is a country older than Russia. That province belonged to the Georgians long before the Ruskies set foot in the Caucasus. So bug off! Spread your frustation against the West and Albania if you will, but don't take it out on Georgia!
