Hypothetically. Lets say Greece assumes following position.
That Slavophone Macedonians are Slavophone Greeks (by large part are Balkan natives by origin and many are also from Aegean area to boot) and need to return towards Hellenism as it is expected of true Macedonians.
Lets assume steps are taken towards that goal.
Steps like;
1 - Radios on their slavophone language (aiming at them),
2 - TVs on the slavophone language (aiming at them),
3 - Heavy 'intelligent' Internet presence (aiming at them).
4 - Steps are taken to be heavily involved economically
(in all the affairs of that country.)
5 - 'Win the hearts' actions are taken
(assistance in education, humanitarian and student excursions)
6 - Frequent student to student visits
(One student visits anothers family and vice versa)
7 - Heavy promotion of the Hellenic language
(As it is expected of true Macedonians to speak it)
7 - Heavy promotion of the Hellenic culture
(Music for example)
Greece in its day (ancient times) was able to culturally hellenize much of Balkans without lifting one sword for most part and am I to believe that today's Greece can not find a way to win the hearts of people who ALREADY are calling themselves by the sacred Hellenic name of Macedonians (how some of them interpret that name now is irrelevant as I am sure such opinions, coupled with proper propaganda, can be easily influenced).
I think current approach is wrong. I say it should be opposite or a case of a parent embracing a long lost child. Just win the heart of that child (its mind can still be molded as it is still young).
PS: Again the road that they are taking only has one final destination. It will be reached not long after (say 2-3 generations after he start and once started it has to be of unrelenting tempo) Greece finally realizes that. Recipe has been presented and all ingredients are necessary (others might object in which case it can be masked in various colors).
