Bosniak Party Threatens to Undo Dayton Deal Email a friend Save article Print article Increase text size Decrease text size SDA meeting22 September 2008 Sarajevo _ Bosnian Serb and international officials have condemned a threat by the ruling Bosniak (Bosnian Muslim) party that they will work to reverse the Dayton peace accord.
The main board of the Bosniak Party of Democratic Action, SDA, met in the northern town of Brcko on Saturday and adopted a declaration demanding the full implementation of the Dayton peace accord and requesting the international community to remain in the country until that is achieved, and directly punish those who block any parts of the peace plan.
If this does not happen, the SDA said it would launch a procedure to reverse Bosnia’s constitutional and legal system set up under the Dayton peace accord, which ended the 1992-1995 war. This would effectively undo all the changes introduced by the Dayton document, including the abolishment of entities as well as cantons.
The SDA’s declaration over the weekend triggered a volley of angry reactions from local and international officials. Bosnia’s Office of the High Representative, OHR, stressed that this declaration was a part of SDA’s campaign ahead of the upcoming October 5 local elections, and was violating Bosnia’s Constitution. It added that only the international community and not local leaders will decide when it is the time for the OHR to end its mandate in the country. Most Bosnian Serb leaders saw the SDA’s declaration as yet another attack directly aimed against Serbs and the Serb-dominated entity of Republika Srpska. Republika Srpska Premier Milorad Dodik added that the OHR may remain in the country “for another 100 years” but none of its decisions will be accepted by Bosnian Serbs ever again unless those decisions are adopted by the country’s regular institutions. Mladen Ivanic, the leader of the Party of Democratic Progress – a junior partner in the ruling Bosnian Serb coalition – said that the SDA’s declaration is “digging out war hatchets.” “This (move) should not be underestimated. This is obviously a political preparation of a very serious political crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” he told media over the weekend. Political tensions have increased over the past month as the October elections draw near. The OHR has repeatedly warned local politicians to stop threatening to unilaterally change Bosnia’s constitution in their pre-election campaigns.

This nationalist act is tiresome, Bosnia needs a strong man like Dodik, Tito or Putin but one that supports the integrity of the Bosnian state. A Hugo Chavez with a brain if you like.

Your post reminds of an article posted on tol.cz after the 2006 elections. It was written by a Bosniak who said Dodik probably has the best vision of Bosnia and defended someof the things he said during and before the campaign as necessary to get rid of the SDS, anyways the main point of the article were: - Despite him having the best vision for Bosnia nothing will come out of it because of the way Bosniak politciians led their campaign and because they will lead the same attitude after the elections it will mean nothing but more and more provocations coming from both sides. ^ The journalist was 100% right on what would happen after the election.

RS independence under 2 circumstances: - 1. Recognition of Kosovo. - 2. Actual attempts to destroy the RS.

How do you think Bosnia got its border originally? They were the boundary between Turkey and the Hapsburgs delineated after a war.
The creation of countries is a dynamic process, it is not based on antiquity and historical reputation. Bosnia is a country today because Tito made it a republic in SFRJ, not because Tvrtko and Ban Kulin kad kingdoms here. Tito also made Serbs in Bosnia a constitutive nation, one which was entitled to self-determination, meaning that the eventual secession of Republika Srpska will be equally legit at Bosnia separating from Yugoslavia.

Yes. However, they were more or less based on the Independent medievil Bosnian Kingdoms Borders. Even during Ottoman rule, Bosnia had those borders within the empire. As such it is not based on genocide! Your enity is the result of Dayton and if any of the parties void their part of the agreement it is void. However, Bosnias borders are guranteed by the UN laws and for example the treaty of berlin. Why else do you think Slobodan signed dayton and not Karadzic? ==================== No. Tito never made or create a 'RS' within Bosnia-Herzegovina. Under that claim 120 people can carve up China, because that many people are considered as constitutional peoples of China. = Yugoslavia was a federation of REPUBLICS. A republic or region called RS never existed. Although you decleared your independence no one recognised it, nor could you have made RS with a referendum. Regions such as East Podrinje were around 70% Bosniak.

Regions such as East Podrinje were around 70% Bosniak. Why did Slobo sign Dayton? Because the RS parliament chose to confer that right to him because for the previous 6 months the west had made clear they would no longer be dealing with Karadzic or with Mate Boban. Plus, in the previous years who was signing the attempted peace agreements in Bosnia -- oh yeah, it was KAradzic not Slobo. Yugoslavia's constiution stated it was the nation state of the Yugoslav nations. It also gave the right to independence to each republic and each nation. Hence, Serbs in Bosnia, Croats in Bosnia, Bosniaks in Serbia, Serbs in Croatia theoretically had the right to secede from the republics. Now if one looks at why this wasn't the case then one should look at the Badinter Commissions. These commissions findings basically meant that the EU was of the opinion that for the most part the boundaries of the republics are based on historical boundaries and for the msot part reflect the boundaries between the individual Yugoslav nations.

The kid is retarded, Radovic... don't bother explaining that to him, its too much to comprehend.
Medieval borders of Bosnia have nothing to do with the current shape of Bosnia. The borders of Bosnia today are completely based on the border between Austro-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire, which was drawn through war. There was genocide there too, Christians were persecuted in the Ottoman Empire, Bosnia became as Muslim as it did for a reason.

your first part is right.. however, the yugoslav constitution only allowed the republics to suceed into independence and the second condition was that 1 other yugoslav republic must recognise this independence. When Republika Srpska Bosnia proclaimed its independence illegally, no one recognised it as a republic- country. Yugoslavia was a FEDERATION OF 6 REPUBLICS and only those six constituent republics had a right to independence.
Please read a bit more about the yugoslav constitution. there was a link on the old forum of large chunks of it in .pdf forum... anyone still know it??

This condition did not exist, find somewhere where it says this. There are plenty of soruces out there attesting to the right of nations and republic to independence but not to the idiotic claim you made.

Bosnia more or less has been the same since tvrtko, only growing and shrinking (but not by much) sometimes like under ottoman rule, then back to what we know it as today under austrian. bosnia has never been chopped up and re-aranged to some extreme degree which is not something you can say for serbia or croatia.
