Ferhadija mosque coming back to Banja Luka in the summer 2008 Alija i have no problem with that mosque being builded.... Rebuilt. Anyway it’s all part of the peace process. 300 rebuilt mosques so far, 300 more to go. Not sure about the number of churches, does anyone have any info on that? I know there’s one still missing in Mostar.

Btw, can anyone tell me when this fortress was built? It reminds me of the city gates of old Sarajevo:

Banja Luka looks like a very nice town, I have always heard good things about the city. Next time I am in Bosnia I will try to make a trip to see the city.
I am glad they are rebuilding the mosque too, it is too bad that this happen in the civilized town of Banja Luka.
I also noticed the newspaper building in the background were the owner lost his legs in a bombing for being independant in the 1990's.

Btw, can anyone tell me when this fortress was built? It reminds me of the city gates of old Sarajevo: Tvrđava Kastel se nalazi u Banjoj Luci i predstavlja jednu od najstarijih građevina u Bosni i Hercegovini.

Take the train... as you exit the station you will notice a grafitti with the words ОВО ЈЕ СРБИЈА ;D And, please, do share some of your political views with the people while you are there

It is, afterall, a Bosnian city populated mainly by Bosnian Serbs and refugees from Croatia. Thats like saying Kosovo is not Serbian at all.

You'd be surprised how many Sarajevo Serbs are in Banja Luka too. The Croatian Serbs are not that numerous, it's mostly Bosnian Serbs that left other parts of Bosnia. And new buildings and houses have been built everywhere. A lot of Bosniaks left Banja Luka, but so many more Serbs came there (the city is a lot bigger than before the war). I think the number of people who moved into Sarajevo is smaller than the number of people who left (so Sarajevo actually got smaller as a result of the war).

I'm not surprised, I figured that was the case. As it was with many Bosniaks/Croats from Banjaluka being present in Sarajevo now. My best friend is a Bosnian of mixed marriages (bosniak/croat) from Banjaluka who moved to Sarajevo. Apparently its very common for Bosniaks/Croats from BL to settle in Sarajevo while Sarajevo Serbs settle in BL. Its interesting... Banjaluka was always 'Sarajevo' #2 so to say. So its only normal that this happened.

I don't think there was ever a Sarajevo #2... you had Sarajevo and then everyone else... it's more like Banjalucani want people to think they were up there with Sarajevo, ko fol valjaju im cevapi i svo ostalo preserevanje
Today Banja Luka is #2 in Bosnia, but that's because of the war and the way the country is set up now

A sto se tice cevapa... Banjalucki nisu losi, samo previse masni.

Croatian Serbs probably arent that numerous but there are still quite a few (including alot of my family) who moved to Banja Luka from Benkovac and surrounding areas in Krajina after the war.
