17 October 2007 | 12:06 | Source: Tanjug VIENNA -- Cypriot Foreign Minister Erato Kozakou Marcoullis has said that her country will not recognize Kosovo independence.
“Cyprus, as part of the European Union, will oppose any recognition of independence,” the Cypriot foreign minister underlined during her visit to Austria, adding that her country would not be the only one to veto such a move.
She warned in Vienna on Tuesday that Kosovo independence would set a dangerous precedent.
Austrian Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik pointed out that the Kosovo issue was a European matter.
“The Kosovo issue is a test for EU common foreign policy,” Plassnik said.
Matters had reached a crucial stage, she said, adding that Belgrade and Priština had to take advantage of what time remained up to December 10, earmarked as the end of negotiations.
"We need new dynamics, not unilateral moves and insistence on basic positions which lead us nowhere," Plassnik stressed.

We are starting to see a slow domino effect, whereby nations are starting to jump on the Russian band wagon.
