Many of those “drunk seljaci with Kaleshnikovs” gave their lives in defence of Serbdom. I would rather you not speak ill of them.Qoute
I think some Serbs have to realise the so called Chetniks of the last Balkan War did some terrible things, giving Serbs all round the World bad names, you can preach all you like about how the world hated Serbia, but by their actions helped to demonise Serbs everywhere, even though i realise of course atrocities where done on all sides equally, but i cant get my head round that Men using the great name Chetnik, Killed freely and commited the most horredous acts.

Yeah i hear what you saying, but for example Arkan is no chetnik for me, the guy was a Gangster!
If we had Heroes like Draža Mihailoviæ and Momèilo Ðujiæ then that would be a different story, they are real men fighting for somthing they believe.

Serbia will need a national reawakening if it hopes to produce heroes like those two again.

I dont consider Draza a Serbia hero...............I consider him an anti-hero. His intentions were noble, his beliefs were right but the way he went about his actions during World War Two was hardly impressive. He didnt do nearly enough fighting, and its a shame we needed a Croat/Slovene to lead the overwhelmingly Serb filled ranks of the Partizans.
Draza had a chance to go down as possibly the greatest Hero Serbia had seen. He failed dismally.......and he is the only one to blame for that.

Unlike Tito, Draza actually cared about German reprisals against the Serb population. He may have been more restraint but it doesn’t mean he didn’t blow up bridges, save allied prisoners, capture enemy soldiers, sabotage tanks and setup traps for the Germans.

Thats hogwash..........the Serbian nation and people always sacrificied alot for its survival, its in our blood. Every war we gave it our all and emerged victorious. I dont want to sound like a broken record (Since ive mentioned this a million times) but whilst Draza was twiddling his thumbs in Serbia, my family were been chopped up by the Ustase in NDH. There were two options for them...........accept death, or join the only guerilla army that was actually fighting : Titos Partizans.
Serbs from Serbia proper were lucky they only had to deal with the Germans...........we had to deal with the even more Genocidal Croatian Ustase. And im sure that there arent many Serbs from NDH who regretted fighting for the Partizans at that moment of time. It was their only hope of actually surviving.
PS. The majority of Cetniks changed allegeinces by the end of the war anway :S

There were two options for them...........accept death, or join the only guerilla army that was actually fighting : Titos Partizans. I guess the Chetniks of Momcilo Dujic didn’t exist. Draza held ground in West Serbia, East Bosnia and Northern Montenegro and fought against the Ustasha and Muslim SS. Do not dismiss the slaughter of school children by the Germans as something less significant. Yes, the Ustasha were bloodthirsty maniacs and yes the Partisans offered protection but before the Partisans became a significant fighting force in the Balkans (which only happened because the Partisans were being heavily supplied by both the Allies and the Soviets), the Chetniks were already fighting the Croats, Muslims, Albanians, Germans, Hungarians, Bulgarians, Italians and Romanians. Remember that the Partisans gave amnesty to Ustasha murderers who joined their forces in 1944 and 1945. PS. The majority of Cetniks changed allegeinces by the end of the war anway :S In 1944 Chetniks were still saving allied airmen and killing members of the collaborationist government.

^^ I meant they changed their allegiences to the Partizans not the Axis forces. Its an over-exagerated myth that the Cetniks were fighting alongside the invading forces...................it would have been only a small contigent of rogue soldiers. But even that was enough. Thats why so many ended up fighting for Tito in the end.

Chetnik honour is to fight against the occupation force and against local tyrants.
Albanian honour is to kill your wife when they fucks another man because you couldn’t satisfy her.

-fight against occupation and local tyrants -
WOW you just described what Croats ,Bosnians and Albanians did .
Deucaon you are stupid cheerleader for something that was and is wrong and you know it . But you will sadly go far here on this forum because they will make you a moderator in no time and put you in the front line where you will get a headache everyday of your life only because you will lie and dodge the truth.

-fight against occupation and local tyrants - WOW you just described what Croats ,Bosnians and Albanians did . Not really, I hardly consider the Croat, Muslim or Albanian leadership of that time to not be tyrannical. High taxes and an ineffective bureaucracy designed to support the plutocracy creating from the wars, a tyranny if I ever saw one. Deucaon you are stupid cheerleader for something that was and is wrong and you know it . I would rather Tudjman, Izebegovic and Ceku had not started the wars in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo but here we are. Of course, this coming from a guy who supports a government that has expelled hundreds of thousands of non-Albanians from Kosovo is ironic. But you will sadly go far here on this forum because they will make you a moderator in no time and put you in the front line where you will get a headache everyday of your life only because you will lie and dodge the truth. I don’t want to be a moderator; I would like it if the moderators could moderate trolls like you though but, alas, they cannot police this place 24/7.

^^^^^
LOL
My late grandfather was an officer subordinate to General Draza at the end of the war he fled to Rome where he was imprisoned and checks where done to make sure he was not a Nazi, he was freed shortly and given 2 options the first was to join the foreign legion the second was to go home He chose to go home at which time the Communists imprisoned him while they did there interogations which took 4 months they had nothing on him also they had documented evidence that he and his unit on occasion helped the partizans. His name is Dusan Vlajsavljevic and he was an officer in the Chetniks...................so F^%K you all. The beard was/is a sign of mourning as the country was occupied, they where Serbian heroes fighting for the Crown which abandoned them.
It is a fact that victors write history and its not to hard to understand why the communists considered the General a threat he represents the crown the very thing the communists want to eliminate and by keeping him alive there was always a threat to there regime so propaganda was used to paint him as some type of traitor war criminal.
He was a Hero and so where the men loyal to him.
