Ok lets get some facts straight
Macedonia or Fyrom is compromised of: (Albanians, Slavs) The Slavs are usually Bulgarians and some are a mix of Serbs.
We fought the Slavs in 2001, and a peace accord was put in place called Ohrid Agreement. During the war lots of our compatriots died. In a way their barbarism was similar to Serbian one but they got their a$$ kicked. Since then relations between us and the Slavs have improved. There is a high chance that the next president of Macedonia will be Albanian. So Macedonia today resembles neutral countries of Europe with mixed minorities (such as Belgium)
Political reality: Macedonia officially has recognized Kosovo. Macedonia was part of Adriatic group (with Croatia and Albania) to join NATO military alliance. Increasing tourism a lot of Macedonian Slavs are visiting Albania tourist sites.
So Albanian view on Macedonia should accordingly then be this: Respect Ohrid agreement and multiethnicity and in return we should recognize the new political reality (i.e recognize their name).

I agree with you.
My personal opinion on the matter however is that the whole name issue is probably one of the more ridiculous conflicts in the Balkans. I can underatsnand Greek frustration though, but still, that Slvs are newcomers to the Balkans is a well known fact and the Slav Macedonians' claim about Alexander the Great are known as BS in the midst of serious scholarship.

40% of Albanians in Macedonia are waiting for it to split in half east and west (nothing for greeks here)
25% are with the slav Macedonians or neutral bcs of jobs or jobs of relatives
35% (me included) are waiting for a more precise census and a true one that will have a list of at least 8 types of ethnicities or more so that when the numbers come in , the Albanians would be the majority nationality in Macedonia......
bcs when you get more precise with the slavs breakdown their #'s as a whole will dwindle (man they despies being called what they are and that is slavic) just look at the rising amount of slavs in Macedonia going Bulgarian lately ...
Pick one and only one citizens of Macedonia
*Roma *Serbian *Agean slav *Pirin Slav *Bulgarian *Albanian *Turk (actually turkofils and mostly Albs ...I don't care for these types) *Torbesh (Islamic slavs ...even includes a few Albs that lost their mother tongue) *Other slav (with explanation of course) *Dont know (but we speak slavic)
And if Albanians had control the name would still be MACEDONIA !!!
we would have a differ playing field of claim to that than any slavs

Donnie. It is very ridiculous and Greece is only aggravating and giving them more legitimacy by playing childing games.
EIther case, our geopolitical interests are different (Macedonia, Turkey, Croatia..) no matter how ridiculous the claim is supporting the name issue should not be a moral one for us.

as albanians is good to look at the fight sllavs fyrom vs modern greek . is funy in a way becouse both side have nothing in common with the name macedonia. greek try to make fyroms fake and the masters them self are not in posicion to prove that macedonians wore greeks or even alexander was greek the big question is what connecion have old greeks with modern greek sllavs cant be macedonians so many things have changed sinse the old macedonian time that we may ask where are thracians paonians anatolians etj. what the name shold be i have no idea maybe

Ancient Greece is modern Greece's heritage. We are by far the first ones who can claim ancient Greece (and thus also Macedonia). Its our history, not that of any other Balkanian.

Alexander was Macedonian but today's Macedonians are Slavs so therefore he is neither greek or Macedonia. The descendants of Alexander are far gone and are a mixture of Slavic, Greek, Bulgarian, Turkish, Albanian and gypsy......

I support Macedonia on the name issue... well that's mostly because I would like to see Greece lose on any particular issue... Hell it would be nice if we recognized Northern Cyprus....

greeks have every right to be pissed off, but so should albanians, ancient macs were a greek speaking illyro/hellenic/thracian hybrid so in a manner of speaking all the old nations of the balkans should be somewhat miffed about it.....but all i know is it pisses greeks off so naturally i forego any reasoning and i support the Macs, it just makes my day to see greeks throwing a hissy fit over the name issue, always gets me in a great mood

Of course you will support them.... it lends a hand to your own distorted history of claiming to be Illyrian.. Everyone around us is a bastard child of someone that came to the Balkans less than 1000 years ago.

As much as I would love to see Macedonia split up and join Albania, I don't see Europe allowing such a thing. It would not only destabilize the Balkans, but when has Europe ok'd the idea of allowing any country in Europe to get larger?

a split would only be internal problem only ..... but I would never think a split would happen ..... theres no advantage for albs or slavs there are to many pockets of slavs and albanian that would be left on opposite sides ...
only if the 3 albs and 2 donkeys are called up again would there be a split ...another mini war
and I cant fathom my address being :
Prespa , Bulgaria
but then again....history and geography change does not cease , it keeps on going ...

Whats the demographics of Prespa?
So if a split were to hypothetically happen, Albania would probably receive:
-Tetove -Gostivar -Struga -Kercova (Maybe)
What else?
