More Macedonians this year are choosing neighbouring Albania's Adriatic coast for their summer escape instead of the more traditional destinations like Greece and Bulgaria, local media report. The number of Macedonians who visit Albania is increasing dramatically, local Makfax news agency reported Monday referring to the Albania's national Top Channel TV. More than 10,000 ethnic Macedonians are expected to hit Albania’s booming tourist resorts by the end of the summer and this is without counting the ethnic Albanians from Macedonia who traditionally visit Albania more often. Media speculate that there are several reasons why more tourists from Macedonia choose Albania. Bulgarian now requires Macedonians to apply for visas since it recently joined the European Union while Greece is becoming less attractive due to Athens' insistence that Macedonia change the name of the country. In addition, media say, Albania has comparably lower prices. Macedonians mostly visit the resorts in the towns of Saranda and Valona. During the past years these Albanian towns located on the Adriatic coast are rapidly developing in to important tourist centres. www.balkaninsight.com/en/main/life_and_style/11797/

Hahaha... Sooo true.... Slav Macs don't have a true identity. They willl steal anything to make themselves happy. They have to put an Ortho church there where her house was to probably later claim she was Macedonian. There is no chance of that since she DID quote " By citizenship I am Indian, by blood Albanian and by heart I am Christian"

So? Do you believe its enough? Alexander the Great said "I'm Greek by descent"... and it wasnt enough for Gruevski. Why Mother Teresa's saying "by blood Albanian" will be? Watch out guys... the might claim Tirana as part of ancient Macedonia too.. lol lol They did that with Skopje... why not with Tirana..? lol lol

We are not as lenient as Athina... We will strike them... Look back what happened in 2001... we aint going to tolerate them. Greece unfortunatly cannot do anything to FYROM because its in the EU and Nato.

I for one welcome them in Albania. They probably dont have the stuck up attitude I've seen with Greeks who make trips into the country. Next time Im in Sarande, I'd love to meet up with some. I havnt met any Macedonians in the US, only Albs from Macedonia.

teuta, "...but Greeks have to allow his statue built in Greece first" ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Greece has gone far beyond with this stuff.. Statues and provoking neighbors is not about Greece anymore. You search for glory of the past.. not we.

Ttlantis, "I'm sorry ,Basil ,Albs & Macedonians are saying there are no greerk minority in their lands…." ----------------------------------------------------- I can do nothing about it. Albs and Fyromians also saying that both are ancient people...... what can I say.. ? "Greek prime Minister is going to opposite…. You have to find your clue or please change your nick….. Still hope You are Basilis.... " ----------------------------------------------------- To speak the trouth.... I would love to have as nick BasilSwiss... or BasilDenmark..... but unfortunately I'm not the one that decides about my genes. History is history. I cant do whatever I wish. As it seems I will carry that "Macedon" for the rest of my life regardless if I like it or not. You know... it was not my decision.. If it was up to me... I would prefer to be from Denmark or Louxembourg etc etc. But for good or for bad... I will always be Macedonian as you will always be Turkalbanian.. Its not a matter of choice dude... The only ones in Balkans that have the choice to change every 40-50 years their name and their nationality are the Fyromians. They might be the new Danish people of 22nd century.. who knows. They have the exclusivity in Balkans.. lol lol For the rest of us.... unfortunately.. we are what our parents and grantparents were...

Basil, We search for the glory of the past and not Greeks? I am afraid you are not very correct here. All Greeks show is the glory of the Great Alexander and try to find some connections with Georgio Kastrioti claiming him as Greek. And they feel so bad when others claim Alexander! To tell the truth, some here even try hard to promote the idea of Albanians arriving in the 12th century or from Caucasus...

Listen, I believe too that Kastriotis was Greek. And if he was not Greek-Greek.. the way I put it... at least he had many Greeks traits. But I really dont care very much. We have so many heroes... from so many wars that one more would not be my target. If you want... keep him. What is for sure is that the official Greek policy does not make any nonsence and provokative actions like statues and stuff like that. Greek govnt does not promote the idea... and that means good manners in the neighborhood.
Also, the glory of the past is given for the Greeks. Its not something new that we deal all day with it. Since EU, our target is not our past. Our target is to move forward. Now, we're forced to deal again with it... and to lose time from moving forward, because of the Fyromian new reality. Unfortunately, I would never believe that in my 40's.... I would talk with Fyromian for stuff like that. It takes me as a person and as a citizen of EU ...50 years back. But... sh.it happens..
Imagine you have a son who is very smart and very promising. You take him in a school in the worst region of US. Your boy will become retard too. He will absorb all the wrong culture and attitude from his fellow students and he will move some step behind. Their fellow students will absorb some of his good traits.. and they will move some steps ahead. That is how it works. Its good for the retard kids... but is bad for your son. But the overall picture at the end is good. Your son helped with his sacrifice the other kids to move 1-2 steps forward.
That is going with Greece right now. Instead of dealing with some serious issues of the 21st century.... we cought ourselves dealing with Fyromians about Alexander the Great and if he was a Slav or not..
...Porca mizeria...

Listen, I believe too that Kastriotis was Greek. Prove his Greek origin if you can!? We are not claiming him, it's just that some of his letters are showing a Greek conscious in Georgios Kastriotis. The name of his state was Epirus not Albania and it stretched from Kroia to Messoghli. His full name is another give away. This state was the descendent of the Greek Despotate of Epirus ruled by members of the Byzantine Royal family. .
