But look at Switzerland now, maybe they will swap pots with France?

Serbia have certainly been in top 10 form for the past few months, even better than Croatia at times.
Now imagine all these countries creating one team (ala Yugoslavia) and they'd be #1 and win the world cup.
Oh well. lol

Radomir Antic Hails 'Special' SerbiaSerbia's national team coach has expressed his delight with his team's performances...Serbia thrashed Romania 5-0 on Saturday evening to secure first spot in Group 7 and qualify for the World Cup next year. National team coach Radomir Antic is extremely happy with his side's performances and has vowed that Serbia will continue to play attacking football. "We deserve this success. We were always true to ourselves, we had self-confidence and we also had respect for everyone, but in particular ourselves. Now we want to continue," Antic said at a press conference. I know we'll never be the lesser team; we'll always give 100 per cent and play attacking football. What our ultimate target is, we'll see in South Africa. "I don't want to compare my guys with previous generations. We're just focusing on our own chances and ideas. At the moment, my primary feeling is pride. I've coached a few big European clubs and I've worked for more than 20 years, but this is something special. "The team and I want to share this emotional moment with everybody in Serbia. I'm especially happy because we sealed our route to the south of the world from Belgrade, our capital, with the help of the crowd and millions of Serbians. We play for them."

‘Football is more than game in Serbia’The tearful eyes of Serbia coach Radomir Antic standing in the Marakana Stadium dugout, after he saw his team thrash Romania 5-0 in Belgrade on Saturday, best witness of the emotions that have accumulated over Serbia’s 13-month World Cup qualifying campaign. A man who has managerial stints at Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid behind him was visibly moved by the sight of Serbia reaching the World Cup. Serbia have qualified as the top team in Group 7 with a game to spare, while the biggest plaudits should undoubtedly go Antic’s way after the man had restored the faith in the national football team. - “I feel wonderful, as it has been confirmed once again that football can be more than just a game, especially when you achieve success in an atmosphere such as the one inside the stadium as well as across Serbia on Saturday evening. That is why I am more pleased with the win we’d forged off the pitch – our country’s image is improved with this, as both the players and fans took part in it,” said Serbia coach Radomir Antic the day after the national team booked their place at next year’s World Cup. You were optimistic straight from the start of the qualifying campaign and your prognoses came true. Had you guessed yourself that the top spot in Group 7 would be sealed with a convincing 5-0 win over Romania? - “Certainly no-one had anticipated an outcome like this. When the push came to shove, we proved where we truly belonged. Not only in terms of the performance and the scoreline, but also the ambience in which the crowd were constantly on their feet, applauding to the opposition’s national anthem and stood by the team. We were at our desired level and have deservedly earned a place at the World Cup.” The day Serbia were drawn in the same qualifying group together with the likes of France and Romania, there were few hard-core optimists who predicted we would eventually qualify as group winners. - “Serbia was the focus of our attention. We respected all opponents, but no matter who we took on – France, Austria, Lithuania or the Faroe Islands – our priority was our own game. The points and numbers have mattered a lot to us, but once we’d achieved our goal, it became clear there were more important triumphs than this.” You gave the players a day off after the game. Did you give them any instructions? - “Yes, I did [laughs]. They should bear in mind they need a great coach to show their worth,” Antic joked. Tomislav Karadzic, the Serbia FA chief executive, has said a place in the quarter-finals of the World Cup is the kind of result everyone would be content with. - “There is plenty of time before the World Cup kicks off and I wouldn’t want to make any predictions just yet. Everyone has the right to their opinion.”

World Cup Qualifying Preview: Lithuania - Serbia
Wednesday's match in Group 7 has little meaning for either side.....
Playing For Nothing
Lithuania's World Cup qualifying campaign never really took off and although at one point they did have a slim chance of making it through to the World Cup finals in South Africa next year, now they don't have any whatsoever.
Jose Couceiro's side are currently fourth in the group with nine points from nine games. They were defeated 2-1 by Austria on Saturday but a win over the already qualified Serbia on Wednesday evening would secure them a fourth place finish in the group.
But in a group that has Serbia, France, Austria and Romania, finishing fourth for a nation that doesn't have much footballing history wouldn't be necessarily bad, especially if they finish above Romania.
Basking In Glory
Serbia were not really expected to top the group and qualify automatically for the World Cup finals especially as they had France in their group, but Radomir Antic's side did eventually realise that dream when they comprehensively defeated Romania 5-0 in Belgrade on Saturday.
Serbia have 22 points from nine matches and so far have won every game in their group except the encounters against former world and European champions France. They could be relaxed against Lithuania on Wednesday as they have already booked their place in South Africa but they would also like to carry on their good form in the qualifiers.

TEAM NEWS
Lithuania
The hosts would like to finish their qualifying campaign with a flourish and might put their strongest side out on the pitch.
Possible Lineup (4-4-2): Karcemarskas, Alunderis, Stankevicius, Dedura, Kijanskas; Razanauskas, Semberas, Cesnauskis, Panka; Danilevicius, Sernas
Serbia
Although the Serbians could well play with their fringe players in this match, they might like to stick to their strongest side too.
Possible Lineup (4-4-2): Stojkovic; Ivanovic, Vidic, Kolarov, Lukovic; Stankovic, Krasic, Milijas, Jovanovic; Zigic, Pantelic
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Dejan Stankovic (Serbia)
The Inter midfielder was proud of his country's achievement after their 5-0 rout of Romania at the weekend. He is the skipper of this talented and impressive Serbian squad and will again have to be at the heart of the midfield when they take on Lithuania on Wednesday. Stankovic's appearance in the 2010 World Cup finals will be his third in a major international competition.
Zydrunas Karcemarskas (Lithuania)
The Dynamo Moscow custodian has been one of the few Lithuanian players who have impressed in the qualifiers and he will again have to be at his best on Wednesday.
PREDICTION
Lithuania know that they have nothing to lose against Serbia and will be trying their best to give the home crowd something to cheer about. The hosts are not bad when they play in front of their own supporters and there are doubts on the motivation level of the already qualified Serbian team. But Serbia have too much in them to lose on Wednesday.
Lithuania 1-1 Serbia

World Cup Betting: Lithuania v Serbia Who would want to face Serbia? In Nemanja Vidic and Branislav Ivanovic Raddy Antic' side have two of the most feared and uncomprising defenders around.A remarkable 5-0 win over Romania means Serbia have already booked their place in the draw for the World Cup. But momentum is an important thing in football and Raddy Antic's troops will be keen to finish off the campaign in style with a win over Lithuania, says Ben Lyttleton. So much for those potentially tricky final two games for Serbia: needing three points from their last two matches to keep France at bay and finish top of Group 7, Raddy Antic's confident side blitzed Romania in Belgrade, running out 5-0 winners. They have qualified for South Africa in some style only dropping points against France but beating every other side in the group (which was France's big downfall). And for their final match in Lithuania, why should we expect anything else? With the exception of Drasko Lazovic, still serving a suspension, Serbia are at 100 per cent which means that Nemanja Vidic will safe-guard the defence behind Dejan Stankovic, who plays a defensive midfield role for his country to allow Milan Jovanovic, Alex Lukovic and playmaker Nenad Milijas room to create chances for strike-pair Nikola Zigic and Marko Pantelic. Antic really has found a perfect blend of defence and attack, proved by the fact that everyone in the starting eleven, apart from goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic, has scored in this qualifying campaign. And it's not just from open-play that this side are a threat: with delivery from Stankovic or Milijas, Premier League stars Vidic and Branislav Ivanovic, currently playing right-back under Antic, are a huge threat from set-pieces. All of which means that Lithuania will have their work cut out in Marijampole on Wednesday night, especially given the fact that their hardiness against France back-to-back 1-0 defeats in March has been replaced by sloppiness that led to the worst result in their short history, a 2-1 defeat to the Faroe Islands in September. That was followed up by a 2-1 defeat in Austria and to say that Portuguese coach Jose Couceiro is on his way out would be an under-statement: the FA cannot usher him out of the door fast enough after this game. So with neither side having any injury concerns, nor anything really at stake in this game other than pride, how will it go? Will Serbia take their foot off the gas and coast, and will Lithuania, raging against their troubled away form, finally pick up their first competitive win for over a year? The answer is almost certainly not: Serbia are a team flying on confidence and with goals in them from all over the pitch. Lithuania, on the other hand, are mentally bruised from this campaign and far too reliant on Tomas Danilevicius for goals. Expect Serbia to add to the hosts' misery.

2-1 FT. Handed them the game with 2 penalties, not a good way to end the qualifiers but oh well where in and the jobs already done.
Antic played it safe not putting Vidic, Stankovic etc in. We dont want a repeat of last world cup where Vidic had a red card and missed out on his first world cup game (then getting injured before the second game). Also gave Tosic a chance to score!
