As happy as I am with today's performance, now I will worry that we will be too full of ourselves and lose to Austria on Wednesday. This win means little if we don't beat them.

It's hard to know what to expect with Austria, they turned it up at the Euros (even suprised their own fans) and proved to be a decent side, just missing a quality striker upfront. They were able to close down Germany, Croatia and Poland effectively. And then the win against France was a shocker.
Now they draw with Faroe Islands ...
It's gonna be an intense game, Vienna with its massive Serb population - the 6000 allocated seats for Srbija fans was sold out months ago, beli-orlovi.com organisers doing they best to buy out seats near the away tribina to meet the demand. It's going to be a spectacle.
We have to beat Austria
- to keep the momentum going - establish our position at the top end of the table - win the final game of 2008 - show those Osterreichs who's boss
Although I'm feeling a draw is more on the cards ...

Classy Serbia trounce LithuaniaSerbia produced a lively performance to reinvigorate their hopes of reaching the FIFA World Cup™ finals with a 3-0 win over Lithuania in their Group 7 qualifier on Saturday. First half goals from Branislav Ivanovic and Milos Krasic sent Serbia on their way while Nikola Zigic added the third in the closing stages, after he missed a penalty. The result left Serbia level on six points with Lithuania at the top of the group ahead of Wednesday's visit to Austria, who were held to a 1-1 draw by the Faroe Islands. The Serbians started with an adventurous 4-3-3 formation and the strategy paid instant dividends as Chelsea defender Ivanovic headed the home side into a sixth-minute lead from a corner delivered by Nenad Milijas to the near post. Midfielder Krasic doubled the lead in the 34th with his first international goal, a swivelling volley that gave keeper Zhidrunas Karchemarskas no chance after the visitors had failed to clear a Milijas cross from the right. Zigic missed his spot kick after Lithuania defender Arunas Klimavicius was sent off for handling the ball on the goal line but the striker made amends within minutes when he headed in Bosko Jankovic's inviting cross from the right. www.fifa.com/worldcup/news/newsid=908306.html#classy+serbia+trounce+lithuania

Austria is a different team on the road than at home. There is a lot of pressure on them after having lost to Lithuania and tied the Faroe Islands. They will play with desperation, so I can envisage a tie. We are a better team than them and we should win, but that is not all that matters in football. So, expect a tie, hope for a win.

WCQ Preview: Austria - Serbia
What: World Cup 2010 Qualification Group 7, Matchday 4 Who: Austria vs. Serbia When: Wednesday 15th October, 2030 CET Where: Ernst Happel Stadion, Vienna
Goodnight Vienna?
When Austria defeated France by three goals to one at the Ernst Happel Stadion on Saturday 6 September of this year, it seemed that Czech head coach Karel Brückner, newly appointed in the role, was leading the country to a bright new international future.
Only the previous month, Austria had nearly sprung a massive surprise by grasping a two goal lead in Italy only to eventually succumb to the Azzurri’s force and ending with a draw.
Such strong foundations have not been built upon as the Austrian challenge for World Cup qualification has, apparently, crumbled against pressure from two of the qualifying groups supposed make-weights.
Coming off the high of destroying France was easy for the Austrians as they froze in Lithuania, limping away from Vilnius with a 2-0 defeat to put their fine start in perspective.
But Austria would hit a new nadir for the new millennium on Saturday as they struggled to a 1-1 draw against the Faroe Islands. The rocky outcrops do not seem to suit the Austrians as they also crashed to a famous defeat in the country back in 1990, leaving their Euro ’92 hopes in tatters.
While the World Cup dream for Austria cannot yet be ruled out – they still sit third in their group, ahead of France – Brückner’s troops will certainly feel that they are not in the position they should be at present.
Victory on Wednesday evening would certainly provide something of a tonic, although group leaders, Serbia, should provide a very different challenge.
The starting eleven will not necessarily be tampered with but the tactics employed certainly will. A more introspective side will be utilised, with the Austrians looking to take advantage of their prowess from deadballs – three of their four goals in qualifying have arrived from set-plays.
Striving For Victory
“We will go to Vienna for three more points,” stated Serbian head coach Radomir Antić after watching his side dismantle Lithuania on Saturday evening.
Leading the group after three matches, Antić’s side appear to have overcome a tricky start to the new head coach’s life in charge. A 2-0 victory against the Faroe Islands at home was unimpressive in the extreme while the Serbians never threatened to upset an uncertain looking French side in Paris as they struggled to a 2-1 defeat in their opening double-header in September.
The change in the pace and quality of the football the team played on Saturday in the success against Lithuania was really quite remarkable. Switching from a mechanical, rather predictable side against France, the Serbians played some lovely fluid football on Saturday and will be looking for more of the same against Austria.
Of course, Lithuania are not a side that possess the same quality as France. Or are they? Antić described the Lithanians as “the best organised side” in the section, hinting that, he feels, they can at least cause other sides serious headaches.
While the Austrians are at a low having failed to break down the Faroes Islands, Serbia are certainly on a high. “I saw so many good things,” Antić enthused to UEFA.com after Saturday’s triumph, “We changed ourselves. I am not delighted only with the result. A 3-0 win is brilliant, but we showed that we can play another way. First at all, our passes were precise. If you play precisely, you have peace. If you have peace and concentration, you can repeat each of your ideas and just wait for a goal. Three points, first place – this Serbia side proved to me that we can be a great team.”
If Serbia are to become “a great team” that means they will have to find a route to World Cup qualification. With main rivals France and Romania floundering a little at present, Antić will see Wednesday’s fixture as the ideal opportunity to give Serbia the upper-hand in the battle for automatic qualification.

TEAM NEWS
Austria
Saturday’s result will be seen as a disaster for Austria’s hopes of finishing in the top two spots in the group and, therefore, alterations will be made to the side’s tactics, although the personnel will remain largely familiar. Of course, the nature of the forthcoming home fixture against Serbia is very different to the draw in the Faroe Islands.
Werder Bremen youngster Martin Harnik limped off during the first half of Saturday’s draw and must be considered a heavy doubt for Wednesday’s match but, otherwise, the Austrian side appears to be in good health.
Predicted line-up: Manniger; Garics, Prödl, Stranzl, Pogatetz; Scharner, Ivanschitz, Fuchs, Holzl; Hoffer, Janko
Serbia
Radomir Antić has had just one injury scare in his squad with defender Ivica Dragutinović forced off mid-way through the first half of the victory over Lithuania with an injury. Into his berth will come Mladen Krstajić of Schalke 04. Krstajić, a tall centre-back, should hope to cope with the aerial threat of Austria with a degree of comfort.
Vast changes are unexpected in the side after such a fine showing last Saturday.
Predicted line-up: Stojković; Ivanović, Krstajić, Vidić, Obradović; Milijas, Stanković, Krasić, Jovanović; Zigić, Pantelić
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Austria
The midfield will be the key battleground on Wednesday evening, with the side that fairs better in the central area likely to claim all three points. Paul Scharner of Wigan Athletic may be more commonly used in the rearguard by his club side but, at international level, he is more widely known for his play in the centre of the field. A disruptive influence to the opposition, the rangey 28 year-old also provides yet another target to hit from set-pieces.
Scharner had previously retired from the international game but returned after coaxing from Brückner.
Serbia
Although the Serbians will need their entire side to have a very solid game if they are to upset Austria, particularly defensively, it will be team leader Dejan Stanković who shall be their key man.
At 30 years old, Stanković has vast experience at both domestic and international level and is a canny, tenacious performer for his country. Withdrawn in the opening moments in the recent qualifier against France due to injury, he will be eager to make up for this with a match-winning performance in Vienna.
PREDICTION
A tight match should be forecast here as Austria have proven themselves to be very difficult to beat at home in recent times, losing only three goals in Euro2008 when they were predicted to be hammered left, right and centre. Despite this, the Austrians lack punch in attack and, with Serbia’s confidence high following weekend success, they may have just a little too much quality for their hosts. It will be close though.
Austria 0-1 Serbia

U21 team qualified for the Championship in Sweden next year! Great news! Only 8 of the best junior European teams go to the competition.
Lithuania barely beat the Faroes which is good, since even with a one-goal win against Austria we can maintain the top spot in the group. Ajmoooooooo nasiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!
