"Curtain to fall on Montenegrin plates in Serbia?" 9 April 2009
Owners of vehicles with Montenegrin number plates in Serbia have three months in which to re-register and pay VAT and customs duty, writes daily Blic.
The daily states that the authorities will confiscate all unregistered vehicles after that deadline.
The measure is expected to eat into the Montenegrin budget, while swelling the Serbian state coffers by some EUR 74.6mn, which will be a bigger earner than any other item on the government's income statement.
Blic adds that if a legal analysis shows that the same measure can be applied to all foreign number plates on cars driven by Serbian citizens, then the same fate awaits them too. Posted by radovic on Today at 6:00pm

^ This means the many informal car dealerships in montenegro, especially around Cetinje will close.
This law was used by Montenegro to earn money through shady means into it's budget, relatively the same amount Serbia's budget will gain [given that the Montenegrin budget is some 10+ times smaller this is a bid budgetary loss].
The funny thing is Montenegro claims to be an "ecological state." But half the cars sold to Serbs through this method do not meet EU emmissions standards that catrs have to meet to be imported into Serbia now.

Very good news.
FUCK MONTENEGRO. Serbia should introduce more of these measures. I think they should make it so that all montenegrin citizens need visas to stay in serbia for which of course we should charge money....etc

Very good news. f**k MONTENEGRO. Serbia should introduce more of these measures. I think they should make it so that all montenegrin citizens need visas to stay in serbia for which of course we should charge money....etc Serbia should start measures aimed against the clique around Djukanovic. Milo Djukanovic's brother Aco is one of the largest property owners in Serbia and as several politicians have mentioned when Montenegro recognized Kosovo -- the properties should be seized, nearly all were acquired through violations of the law. Serbia should enforce the law against Djukanovic's clique, pass measures affecting this clique. As the economic picture gradually get's worst more measures like this should be passed. Also. When it comes to the issue of citizenship Serbia should tell Montenegro: Accept our proposal and give them the right to vote or we send back all your citizens employed here [at 300,000 people, Montenegro couldn't deal with it].
