MostarNotice the mirrored tiles ... well they reflect the moonshine at night, and light up the Cross for all to see. So when u find yourself lost at night in the town of Mostar, look towards the heavens and the lord Jesus Christ will show u the way! ;D

How big is that one? Ours is supposed to be 85 feet. Its 33 meters in Height. Or 108 feet. ;D C'mon I like you for the most part, please forget the giant cross atop Hum that the HVO shelled from to ruin the symbol of mostar from, it is a ugly symbol for a terrible crime that should be shamed not celebrated.

No, just a reminder for balije A reminder of how cetniks love homo erotic phalic symbols and how they wish they were "brokeback mountain" eachother instead of sitting in there village next to there bearded wives playing a one string guitar and crying that Bosnia is Serbia? No, a reminder where the bombs came from, and where they will be coming from the next time too... it doesn't do much for us, we can't even see it

I actually support the raising of the cross in Sarajevo! We need to show the world ie. tourists, and the bosniaks in general that BiH isnt exclusively theirs nor is it an islamic state. The more churches crosses and christan symbols the better. Let the world see BIH for what it is. Multi-ethnic, Christian and islamic alike.

^ That is actually a good point... poor tourists could think they got lost and ended up Saudi Arabia when they pass the King Fahd mosque... the cross would remind them that they shouldn't be afraid, as Christianity is being defended from those hills

I think when a religious structure is erected ( like a Cross, minaret , steeple, etc) to taunt other groups then it actually makes the religion its supposed to represent look bad. If acceptance of Christians by Muslims ( or vice versa) is the goal then this certainly is counter productive. Of course, that may not be the goal altogether. When I was in Mostar speaking to the Croats there ( and there are many) about the cross no one said it was supposed to represent anything purely religious but rather a message for the other side that Croats will never leave and they claim its a response to further Islamification of Mostar's Bosniaks. I believe there is truth to that since it seems Eastern Mostar and the area near the bridge called 'old town' became more Islam orientated. I still don't like to see religion being used in this way though.

Actually the cross is the answer to the monument for children. The monument is old news, much older than the cross.

I agree with most of what you had to say but the cross was put up there not in response to anything Bosniaks did except for survive in Mostar during the war. It is such a beautiful little city and it is great because of the character and history more than religion.
