Exactly. Amen. One thing I actually envy about the Albanians is that they look at being Albanian first and being Muslim/Catholic/Orthodox second. If only us South Slavs could look past the religious barriers.

Exactly. Amen. One thing I actually envy about the Albanians is that they look at being Albanian first and being Muslim/Catholic/Orthodox second. If only us South Slavs could look past the religious barriers. Yeah, we would be better of, it almost happened with the second Yugoslavia, had it lasted, all the south slavic ethnicities, probably would have become the same nation after another 50-100 years. But Albania has a different history, they were always ruled by the same empire. Whilst we were ruled by many at the same time. It we look at history in the 1800s, the Croats are ruled by Austria. Bosniaks are a part of the Ottoman empire, Serbs revolt against the Ottoman empire, and make their own state. The Serb revolt against the Ottomans is more of an "orthodox" one, then a Serb one, seen as classes of citizens were divided by their religion in the Ottoman system of governance. And the masters whom they rebel against are mostly Slavic Muslims from Serbia, hence they replace the Slavic Muslim elite with a new orthodox-Serb one, and thus Serbia gaining independence does not have the same effect for all the south Slavic people, as the other two religious groups do not see them selfs linked to it, well one obviously is against it. But even with different religions, I believe had we been under the same empire, no matter what empire, at the same time as we got rid of that empire, there would have been formed a south Slavic nation. Like Italy and Germany were formed. But even in the future, if you had a 100 years with intermixing and mutual peace between us(meaning that even if we have wars, we do not have them among our selfs, not on ethnic/religious grounds in any case), a south Slavic nation would be likely to emerge.
