No, they will give it up when things become better in Albania. Its true, nationalism doesnt feed people. But just like it happened with Greek-Americans, you will start seeing in the next 15-20 years, Albs in Greece will start to return to Albania, slowly and slowly. As the nation gets better, it will be easier for the youth to associate with the older land and, sociologically, it has been shown that third-generation immigrants are the "return immigrants", meaning those who wish to go back to the old homeland. Like I said, the opinion that matters is not what comes from someone who crossed the border, but the view from within, or those without the limitations an Alb from Greece has. I dont know how they have grown, but I see how the new nationalism inside Albania is changing Albs. Hell during the 90's I remember none of my parents even spoke about what was happening in Kosova. We never heard anything in school, nothing. Now everyone wants to hear everything. Tosk...i dont want to shatter your perception on what is going on over here, but Im afraid your very misinformed. First off, most albanians workers dont want the country to get better via EU due to the fact they have a currency advantage w/ the euro. And w/ the euro they can build their vacation house in albania w/ half the cost and maybe even send money over there and live like a king. Next, the albos that have their kids here are hellenized and have grk friends. You can be sure as chit they will not want to go back to albania. And lastly we have albo kids that fight all the time because THEY want to carry the GREEK flag when they are the first of the class in school. And good for them...i dont see why greeks get pissed when they see that.

One more thing tosk...i would suggest you take your family and visit Greece. Speak albanian freely in public when you get here and see for yourself firsthand how a bunch of RACISTS we are over here. And check out your countrymen that have their own construction crews Those are the real albanians, not the expats that have a hard on for Greece...

expat...i have been in greece, most urban cities don't give a sheet about race, athens was so mixed anyway, although at the time there was a distict anti albanian feeling, you could sense but its perhaps not as bad as someone descrie it, to be honest i don't even have a problem with greeks, i have known many and i've always got along with them, the thing is albs know greeks very well but greeks do not, greek people grew up with these distorted view of albs maily due to the nationawide propaganda, it probabaly has to do with religion, i have found greeks very unaccepting of islam...its true, although we have a lot more in common that we like to admit

Basil and karta, just so that you know, there's not much hatred for you on this side. You're a victim of propaganda, and too unable to think for yourself, too lazy to search for info yourself, and very probably too defensive of your beliefs to try and challenge them.
basil, please don't pretend like you know how to debate by quoting every sentence and addressing it in an orderly manner, because it only emphasises even more how unable you are to be relevant (the act of addressing each statement at a time should have helped you to stay on track, but it didn't!)
Hoxha this, Hoxha that... what the hell do you know about the guy?! We were expecting the greeks to invade, we were waiting in our bunkers with weapons in hand, bla bla fucking bla... First, our army was strong enough to not give a flying fvck about Greece. It is a different matter now, but until the early '80s that he was alive, there was no way in hell you could touch albania! Second, do you know that he wrote a book titled 'albania and greece - two friend nations' or something like that. And it definetly wasn't out of fear. We're speaking of the guy who forcefully kept half of a russian submarine-fleet.
But why go into as much depth as I just did above, when you see things so black and white (for lack of a better expression, as I had only about 4 hours of sleep) that muslim albs are backwards, christian/orthodox albs are greek; tosks are greek and ghegs are turks. I mean, are you having laugh, or do you trully believe this stuff. Because if you believe those things, there's is something really wrong with you. The level of stupidity is quite unbeliavable. And this case is not even a case of being misinformed, it is plain lack of logic (which is so funny, considering that greeks take pride of their ancient philosophers who laid the foundations on the subject).
As to a more general belief that other greeks are expressing in this forum, that of greeks being more friendly towards us than depicted in here. Nothing is black and white. Of course that there are greeks who trully get along very well with albanians. And those guys get our full respect, considering that they live in a country where the media and state aren't particularly too fond of us (don't blow this out of proportions, the relations between us are not as bad as they are for example between us and serbia, but they could and should be much better). But the truth is that the official stand of your state isn't too pro-albanian, and we all have a cousin or a friend who has been in greece and felt discriminated against by the police, or by people. You'll probably disregard what I just said, and flip the debate into things like 'nearly a million albs live and work in greece, it can't be that bad...', but as usual you'd either be distorting the level of the issue/problem, or worse just disregard that we all have quite a lot of proof of anti-albanian greek feelings and say something quite irrelevant.
p.s. if anyone assumes that I just hate greeks in general, it is their mistake for not understanding who and what I hate about the greeks!

That makes fun of Greeks... Funny how the Albanians laugh at the good looking guy in the suit. We look at that and laugh at the guy wearing that hat looking like a vlacho.

I was going to say the same thing. This 'comedy' actually backfires when albanians stereotype themselves in peasent garb and the Greek guy is more modern. Also the attitude....Greek guy is happy and friendly and albanian is angry and miserable.

The comedy is in the words, not the looks. Albanian comedy often plays on the difference between the rustic and the urban, the peasant and metropolitan.
