care to enlighten us? who declared its autonomy and how far does it stretch....i reckon not as far as your imagination. On May 5, 1914 the Corfu Protocol, written by the International Control Committee (England, France, Germany, Austria, Russia and Italy), was unconditionally accepted by the government of Albania. In this document, Epirus is declared an Autonomous Area, within the Albanian state. Typical of Albanian diplomatic history, the Protocol was never put into effect. Sorry I don't joke around. was this summit in corfu at a peasant representative level then? the borders of albania were set out in london mate, and never was a myth such as epirus mentioned, no autonomy was discussed, where do you get this trash? few random people from different nationalities get together and draw up a document of autonomy? pls inject some credibility to your facts

we should NOT create grey zones when the turks are doing the same to us...
we should support our ppl in s. albania morally and culturally w/out threatening anybody with autonomy ect., and at the same time hellenize as many as we can as they arrive here in Greece..
my 2 cents...

libofsha I stated I am not joking on my last post and am not trying to scare or threaten any one. Am stating the facts that there is a protocol or treaties which are still active. And this isn't a Greek Government policy now, it's something that happened along time ago and is still valid to this day and beyond "never ends" No protocol or treaty ends. Unless some sort of agreement is made by both parties in future ? Only then can it change.
The Albania authorities or Governments never implemented their obligations, what we saw was the Greek people and the Greek Epirote Government in Exile instead. That was illegal. Albania is still obliged to give Autonomy to the Greeks of Northern Epirus since this protocol still exists.

Arxilleas...
i personally feel our govt should take care of its OWN ppl in Epirus before they have to give advise on ppl living outside its borders. We probably have more albos in concentrated villages than the greeks living there ! The young ones go to the cities and the old ones employ albanians to work the fields..If the young generation doesnt care what they leave behind..you can be sure someone else will...
That is all im trying to say...everything else I agree w/ you

Yep and it’s an issue Karamanlis has addressed with the European Union as not being only a Greek problem but a E.U one. Italy has a huge chunk Illegal migrants on her shoulders as well. Personally I would like Albania and our surrounding neighbours to prosper, this I believe may solve this issue as most migrants go to other nations for better wages and conditions, when their nation prospers the less likely they would migrate and less likely of Illegals being exploited by greedy companies. Remember the old days when Greece was relatively poor, huge chunk of Greeks went to America, Australia and Canada for a better life, now Greece has caught up or doing better then say Australia now almost ! Most folks here would love to go back home Maybe similar policies for Albania as Italy with the Grekos who now are able to have their own Greko news papers and schools etc; Eleuthiria = freedom. IMO off course My 1 cent for peace and stability. Any ways late here nani time yia. .
