Apologies accepted...but most important is that we are on the same page now. And you're right about the difference between the diaspora greeks and the greeks that never left Greece. I've noticed that too when I was there, and I think it makes sense since the diaspora greeks know what does it mean to be an immigrant...

I think the greeks truly have no reason to hate the albanians, the albanians basically freed the greeks from the Ottoman Empire

I think you are confusing Arvanites with Albanians.

Yet again how many were they? If it was not for the numerous westerners who adored Greeks/Greece for being the descendants of Ancient Greeks, things would be rather harder to accomplish.
Apart from souliotes, i dont know any other arvanitikh involvement in the Independence war. However Souliotes had Greek souls, greek ideas, and half of them were clearly and genuinely greek speakers (they would not understand 1 word from alb lang).

The Suliots were not Arvanites; they were Orthodox Chams, Albanians who claimed their lineage to Skanderbeg's warriors who fled the north and settled in Suli.
The Arvanites who contributed to the Independence War were many. To mention some; Odhise Andruco, Dhiako, Laskarina Bubulina, Karaiskaqi and so forth. Kolokotroni was also, atleast partially, an Arvanites. His surname is nothing but a transliteration of Bythguri, with the same meaning in Arbërishte, a dialect of Albanian. -------------------------------------
Personally, I cannot speak for the Greeks. But people like Leandros make it seem as if this as was a charity case. This delusional perception on why immigrants are present in Greece disable simpletons like Leandre to understand the necessity of cheaper labour in Greece. Personally, I'm not at all fond of the fact that hundreds of thousand Albanians had to leave their homes and work in Greece as opposed to home. But communism had the effect it had, and many saw no other prospects than to migrate to other countries, mainly Italy or Greece.
Likewise, violence and criminality has not been one sided. Many Albanian immigrants have been treated badly, discriminated against and have been forced to take jobs with low wages, jobs which most Greeks did not want. And now, after hard work, when they try to climb the latter of prosperity, you have the audacity to criticize them? For making their lives better? People like you deserve nothing less than being hanged by your b*lls, because you probably know nothing about the hardships some immigrants have endured. A clear example is the case of the Albanian youngster Edison Jahaj, 17 year old, who was stabbed 17 times by a gang of Greeks for the reason that he wore a T-shirt in a club with the Albanian national symbol on it.
But since you've met some hotheaded Albanians, you think you know everything. Well, your Cretans and Maniates are no better. Some bad apples will exist in all socities, all ethnicities. But, do not make it seem as if it is a matter of charity. Greece needs the immigrant labour.
I just hope our immigrants will either return or move westwards; let their place be replaced by Kurds, Arabs, Nigerians, Pakis. I trully hope this becomes reality.

Come on,the Gr Independence story is not a good story to tell to the alvan kids...they gonna be afraid...and they may collaborate with any possible invander in the future like their ancestors did systematically so far..
