Toskali711 Northern Epirus - Vorio Epirus was always Greek since Ancient times Polyphonic songs = are of Dorian origin excellence Hellenic harmony The melodies of polyphonic songs, including some more songs of Epirus and Thessaly, are the only ones in Greece that have preserved the pentatonic scale without semitones (a scale consisted of five tones without semitones). According to some musicologists, this scale is identified with the Doric way of ancient Dorian Greeks. These days, polyphonic song is found in northwestern Greek region of Ioannina (villages of Pogoni, Parakalamos and some villages north of Konitsa), in very few villages in northeastern Thesprotia, Tsamantas, Lias, Vavouri, Povla) and, mainly, in Northern Epirus, in the villages of the Greek minority (Dropolis, Upper Pogoni, Vuthrotto, Chimarra).

What should Albanians say for the word: cifteteli? And they (Albanians North) have an instrument called "cifteli", which consists in 2 strings: "cift" (double or couple) and "tel" which means string!
Epirus was Epirus: was never fully Greek nor fully Albanian. Cultures were intermixed there.
Last: Balkan music is very similar; like it or not.
