Mehmet II Accepts Homage from the Moreote Archons
Conquered by the sword? Not really... just a promise on the sword and an offer of security. That was the norm in the balkan conquest. In return Ethnic Cleansing of the Moslems and Jews of Morea in years to come.

For this he seeks the decision of My Excellency and for this I send you my decision. I swear to you by our great prophet Mohammed in whom we Mousoulmanoi believe and by the seven mousafia, and by our 124 thousand prophets, and by the sword which I wear, and by the soul of my father Chodobeidikiari, that against your possessions and your children and your heads and everything of yours I will do no harm and will leave you in peace so that you will be better off than before. My trustworthy decree is issued here just as it is written above.

Mavi Boncuk NOTES
[1]Katapan (governor-general usually a military governor or plenipotentiary)
[2]Archon is a Greek word that means "ruler" or the like, though it is frequently encountered as the title of some specific public office. In form the word is simply the masculine present participle of the verb stem - (meaning "to rule"), derived from the same root that appears in words such as monarch and hierarchy. A chief magistrate. Archons ruled by imperium, whereas Basileus ("sovereign") are said to have auctoritas.
[3] Kyr: Lord. It originally comes from the word kuros meaning supreme power or authority. This word is also the root of Middle English chirche,("chirche" and how we now spell it "church" and "Kirk" in Scottland) from Anglo Saxon, circe, from Greek kyriakon the Lord's house, from kyriakos concerning a master or lord, from kyrios master, lord, from kyros power, authority; akin to Sanskrit sura mighty, bold, Old Irish (hero) caur, cur.
