the double headed eagle , stands for what? 2 faced perhaps. albanians and kosovars, could never unite to be 1 state. catholics - muslims. be serious, as nice as unity sounds, you know it is not real. they can't stand each other. i know many catholic albanians who spit on the muslim ones. and what about marrying a catholic girl in muslim for ex. or vice versa, so body's head would be cut off. let alone joining to be 1 country

Well, I think Kiki has the right to express his/herself as everybody else. I actually like criticism...it helps us improve.
Now, for Albanians and Kosovars...it's true they are grown differently and have some differences between them. The point is that no matter of Religion, when it comes to IDENTITY they are all plain and simply Albanians...it has to do with nation, language, ethnos and genesis.
Religion has contributed to divide Albanians by assuming they are Muslims or Catholics or Orthodoxes before being Albanians. I guarantee you: Albanians are FIRST Albanians (including Kosovar Albanians, Albanians in Montenegro, Fyrom, Greece, USA, etc...no bad connotations here, so please do not abuse the "big Albania")and then Religious. Is different for some other Balkan countries though...however...Albania and Kosovo are De Juro two states but De Facto almost one!! And it will help Albanians to prosper in the future, taking advantage by being exactly such.

really rubbish , is that what you called it? that statement , i added , was told to me by albanin catholics years ago. i went to crnagora, malsija area, they spit on albanian muslims. so if i made it up whatever you r own people said it i am a christian albo and i personally can not stand greeks or serbs, i'm talking about a level of hatred never witnessed before, to paint a clearer picture i hate these ------------so much it makes the hatred that Palestinians have towards the jews as a hissy fit, most of my friends are muslim and i don't think we have discussed much about the religion issue, mostly because we(like most albos) do not blindly succumb to the bulls**t religious doctrines, who's to say whose religion is the truth? spirituality is subjective and not a national pertinence, the connection btw someone and the spiritual realm/diety is personal and not to be dictated or meddled with by any religious institution, look at the serbian clergy, harbouring war criminals? trying to incite war? calling for blood to be shed? i would be embarrassed, this is beyond despicable.

Kiki
What are you? Crnogorac/Crnogorka?
Perhaps prejudice exists between Catholic and Muslim Albanians. Prejudice is to be seen everywhere, even in religiously homogenous countries/territories. All of Italy is for instance Catholic, predominantly atleast. Yet there's a greater national disunity there than among Albanians; there's a strong sense of local identity in Lombardy for instance, where they view the southerners with contempt, as foreigners, as bad as non-Italian immigrants of Eastern European or Northern African extraction.
Nevertheless, it cannot be argued that we are a very united people considering how fractured we are religiously, wth both Muslims (who in turn are divided into Sunnis and various sects of Shi'ia, e.g. Bektashism, Rufaism etc), Catholics and Orthodox.
Religion is not really a factor anymore to us when the nation is concerned. And marriages between Catholics and Muslims do exist. Ties of friendship aren't "impossible"; my father is a (nominal) Muslim and has plenty of Catholic friends, many of whom are among his closest friends; some of them are in Kosova, some in Switzerland and some in NYC & Detroit.
So stop talking bull.

..and why Tosks in NY live side by side with Greeks in Astoria... and Gehks live in Brooklyn? What is that internal need that guide Tosks in the neighborhood of Greeks and away from Gehks in NYC? I thought you're first Albanian and then Christian or Muslim.. Really now.. do you have any anwser for that.. because its quite weird..

What is weird Vasili is usually something that you/we don't understand. When you get the facts and understand the reasons it isn't weird anymore. Albos of Bronx are mostly Albos of a prior wave of emigration. Majority of them from Kosova or Northern Albania. They tend to be in majority secular Muslims repeating the pattern found around areas where Albanians live in Balkan, same of them are catholic, some orthodox and some non religious. It fairly can be said that overall albs living in Bronx are in majority emigrants from early decades after WWII. Mostly from northern territories of Albanian ethnos Kosova/ North Albania/ Montenegro. This doesn't mean there are no Albanians from other territories or South Albania living there. It is very common but not dominant. Albanians of Astoria (probably 100% of them) are all new comers in USA, after 1992. Astoria it is considered Greek influenced by enlarge and it is true but, it is also true that is the most ethnically diverse neighborhood in USA. Approximately 30-35% of Astoria's more than 140,000 residents claim Greek ethnicity. The next largest groups being Italians, Middle Easterners, Brazilians, Asians etc. Greek and Italian explain a lot why Albanians from Albania started living there once in NY. Keeping in mind that most of Albanians after 1990 reached USA via Italy or Greece. Most of them spoke Greek or Italian because years spent there so it was just logical to look for jobs in this community as most of them didn't have papers. Also keeping in mind that at the time the new wave of Albanians arrived in USA, Astoria no doubt was doing much better then Bronx and was much much more attractive. Only 10 min by train to Manhattan, opportunities of jobs if you spoke Italian or Greek and no English. Most of South Albanians had emigrated before coming to USA to Greece or Italy and most of Northern Albanians to Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, Holland, England. So when they did make it to USA they had different assets to use. Naturally they dispersed in this land taking advantage of what they had handy, which was foreign languages they learned between other elements. Now this is a pattern of Albanians of NYC, but Albanians of Connecticut do not manifest the same. Overall the distribution of Albanians in NYC followed the path of convenience and using assets they had in hand. Language as an inertia of previous stops on they journey. Another determining factor for the final stop on their journey was the fact of family and tradition ties. Bronx had mostly Northern Albanians and Albanians from Kosova which as i mentioned where there before 1990. So when Albos from North or Kosova or Montenegro did come to USA naturally they followed in the locations where they family ties pulled them one of them was Bronx. Greeks did come in large numbers in Astoria in 1960. Prior that Astoria was predominantly Italian. I don't see a specific reason why Greeks started living in Astoria, but if I would try to be controversial be sure I fabricate or insinuate one. So the same goes for Albanians being Geg (non religious, muslim, catholic), Tosk (non religious, muslim, orthodox) and living in Bronx or Astoria. It's nothing there to be found as weird or controversial.
Once you are an immigrant and in need to survive you look around for family. If you find one lucky you! If not use your assets at you best first to survive and make it stick second. Next step is to prosper and if you have some free time well, you go to illyria forum and shoot blanks...
