Anyone seen it? Just saw a few clips on youtube.. looks nutty. Typical Balkan combo of war and black humour
Part of the movie where the Arkan character forces Cro soldier to sing Ceca's song....or die ... lol

we just finished watching it! Not bad, but nowhere near the old masterpieces tho..
also the point that the muslim commander talks about being a fan of i think Partizan or Zvezda it was pathetic..., if there was so much love before war, then the mulsim commander lectured the wrong people...

Goran Markovic is probably thje only director in Serbia with a reputation internationally close to Kusturica's. But his films have chsanged. The films he made before were much better, like Nacionalna Klasa:

The films he made before were much better, like Nacionalna Klasa: Also, this "school" of war-related comicotragic movies is getting old. Nothing new to add. However, we must note that we have yet (or at least me) to see a neutral (unpolitical) movie about those wars by a muslim/croat. The muslim attempts (Grbavica) were sad. I have a question as well: How come and there have been at least 4-5 movies about the bosnian/krajina wars, and none about Kosovo? Is it because fun between yugoslavs is easier than fun between e.g. serbs and albs or USA?

Is it because fun between yugoslavs is easier than fun between e.g. serbs and albs or USA? There have been some no major ones. It's probably because it's an ongoing conflict, now frozen, and one would wonder how the sycophants in our government would react ones their master America complains. I'd say it's more it's status as a frozen conflict, thus ongoing to some extenet. There weren't that many war films made in 91-95, but after there were alot. Any ways Spasitelj (Savior) an Aemrican film produced by Oliver Stone, is generally neutral.

You have two types of war movies: ones which emphasize victimization, others which show the absurdity of war and nationalism. Both of the scenes from Turneja in this thread try to emphasize the absurdity of nationalism.
You have both types of movies being made on all sides. "Gori Vatra" is one Bosnian movie which does a little to show the absurdity of nationalism ("Nicija Zemlja" does it half-way, before reverting to victimization). It has a lot to do with the kind of director that works on the movie. The Belgrade film scene was by far the best in the ex-Yugoslavia (there are lot more respected directors there).

We just saw yesterday "Savior". Nice movie, altho the beginning kind of sucked! Really touching, especially at the point where the protagonist almost suffocated the baby before the threat of ustashe torturers/killer ... jesus!
However, i would like to see one movie that would demonize germany/UK/USA, that would be cool to see!
