Rommel was an amazing tactician, but Manstein was the heart of German strategic thinking. -----------------------
Agreed. Western history books often like to leave out the amazing military prowess and knowledge of some of the German commanders in WWII.

Ill admit that its rarely used with "si", however if you havnt heard the ethnonym "Grek" used as an insult in the south, you have kept your ears closed....

""Epiroti"" , the guy in my avatar is looking for a tourkalvano...be careful...
I watched I documentary yesterday about Balkan Wars 1&2 and I admired the Montenegrin participation despite its tiny population...and I wonder why Albos being, as they say, freedom...lovers and warlike spirits didn't participate. Some guerrilla bands who fought in the name of placke don't count...

Why should we have fought on the Balkan "freedom side" who wanted to annex our territories and kill us off? Most Albanians were Muslims and thus felt more "free" within the Ottoman Empire then outside. We were the Sultans main bodyguards and generally known for zealousness.
The Montenegrins attacked and tried to annex a city that is/was 100% Albanian: Shkoder. They besieged it for weeks on end and the population resisted and the Albanian troops fought alongside Turkish troops inside the city and under a Turkish general, Hasan Riza Pasha, who today has a statue in the center of the city. It was his eventual assassination and takeover of Esad Pasha, an Albanian who wanted to make himself friendly to our enemies so that he could attain more power for himself, that led to the city giving up... even in the face of staggering Montenegrin losses.
So like I said, we were/ are not either your allies nor friends. We had problems with the Turks, but when you guys came into the picture with your allies, we were quick to realize who our friends were and sided, mostly though not all, with them.
Now if you don't like it, I couldnt really care less... leave us the fuk alone...
Yea, even if that were true, at least I wouldnt be the one to be puckering up to those who have done us so wrong throughout the last 100 years. Go to Konispol, right in the city center and there you will see the memorial devoted to the "love"... or go to various other largely Muslim villages and ask them to point out to you where the Greek irregulars, then armed by Greece, left their liking for Albs through burning down their homes or slaughtering family members.

Im glad prolet is here to enlighten us...he is the only albo that speaks the truth without bias. LOL, hes probably the MOST BIASed Albanian here. What Rinia says is pretty much true. Here's how it works in Albania calling someone a "greek" in south albania is an insult just like in north albania you get called a "serb" as an insult.

Mendor you moron in history books Albanians are referred to as Turkalbanians. It is nothing personal. Well its pretty ironic that some Greeks call Albanians "TurkAlbanian" when they are the ones who are more likely to have the Turkish genes. I'd love to see what would happen if you went to Mirdita or Malesia and called them a "TurkAlbanian", you probably wouldn't live to tell the story.

Im glad prolet is here to enlighten us...he is the only albo that speaks the truth without bias. What bias? Im telling you just like I how heard it, ask those who have lived in Albania longer than me if this is true. You can ask ngadho for instance if its an insult or not. Youve never heard somebodies bad characteristics compared with the people down under? Really? Because thats one of the most common things in the country. In fact even politicians have done it. And yes, Lozonjare is right...
