The original was posted a few years ago by Xpo Ferens from an Italian study which recorded Arberesh correspondences from the Middle Ages, this letter was included. This was in the old forum. I don't know what basis makes you think its fake.
Anyway, I agree this topic is misplaced.

u could say teh same t hing about Greece, especially about modern Greece, "wehenever i read history about Arvanites modern Greece makes sense again" ;D Let me educate you. You could also study the Byzantine era too and see who they were "Greeks offcourse Over veiw of the Byzantine Empire. illyria.proboards19.com/index.cgi?board=byzantineera&action=display&thread=12211This is written by writers who were with the crusaders Byzantines and Greeks were totally one people... illyria.proboards19.com/index.cgi?board=byzantineera&action=display&thread=6520Now on topic; Georgios Kastriotis was a Byzantine Prince of the region then called Epirus and not known as "Albania, back then", at least during the Greek Byzantine period. Let's see what's wrong. Letter from Skanderbeg to the Prince of Taranto: ÒGiorgio, gentleman of Albania, to Giovanni Antonio, Prince of Taranto, greeting.
So why in the hell is he addressing "gentleman of Albania" . Skenderbeg's mother may have been Serbian...but his father was pure Albanian and Catholic AND from the north... besides he declared he was Albanian and fought for Albanians. the same way with Alexander even though his mother wsa Albanian he declared he was Greek and fought for Greeks. end of story.

There is no connection btw the Illyrians and the Epirotes, let me remind you it was the Illyrians who were calling the Epirotes = Greeks. Lets see the Etymology of the word Epirus; www.etymonline.com/index.php?search=Epirus&searchmode=noneO.E. Crecas (pl.), early Gmc. borrowing from L. Græci "the Hellenes," from Gk. Grakoi. Aristotle, who was the first to use Graikhos as equivalent to Hellenes ("Meteorologica" I.xiv) wrote that it was the name originally used by Illyrians for the Dorians in Epirus, from Graii, native name of the people of Epirus. There is no historical connection btw Illyrians to Olympia or the Macedoniians who were a Dorian tribe. “Arha Ellas apo Oricias kai arhegonos Ellas Epiros“
“Greece starts at Oricus and the most ancient part of Greece is Epirus.”
Claudius Ptolemy, The Geographer
