Recently I was on holidays to Izmir (Smyrna) Turkey, went on a holiday tour to Samos island in Greece. At a church in the island I seen the double headed eagle standing on the rodes that are use to devide the path of the praying rooms. It all explains itself where the double headed eagle originates from.

anyway leandros,I have write to you before about my nick name , but about the symbol Im not so secur that is a greek simbol, we can go back for a while when the roman empire was dividet, and we can find the western roman empire symbol with an eagle (the one that was taken by the holy roman empire german) and the estearn roman empire that take the double head eagle like as the city kostantinopoli was called the second rome. (leran more reading The bizantine history, V.Vokalopulos or the same title writen by G.Ostrogorski) and at the time they were just latins and the symbol was taken allso by the imperial family but what happend after, when the Bizant imperial family the Angelos fallen and the empire was taken by the latinkos (1204-1268) in those part where the latinkos didnt have autority like the albanian lands, serbian lands ect the lokal nobils declare themself as priceps, lords or sowhat and to legitimy this autodeclar they adopt the doublehead in theyrs family simbols as a sign that it was an imperial decret or crysobulla for this titles or that they have an conection with imperial family (dinastic conection). I think that is the truth as mostly of the historian said. ther is smth similiar in the antichiti when a lot of nobils family around the balcan area find "conection" with the greek heroes of omiros opera Iliada and Odysea just to made their name family with more prestig, by

You welcome Canaris.
I was unlucky.... it was Sunday (last week) and the shops were all closed.
I wondered around the island with almost deserted streets, the only thing I had to do was drink frape and sit on the cafe's on the square. When it was time to eat lunch...went to a nice greek taverna, delishes food..... God bless the greek and turkish cuisine.
At 5'30 pm got the ship back to Kusadasi - Izmir. Unfortunately Kusadasi is not the place I prefere in Turkey, though the food is very good the same as the one in Istanbul.

The origin of double head eagle is known since Egypt Civilisation so it is has an SUMERIAN origin . Was brought to Eastern Empire by Bizantine Emperors. Bizantine Empire was NOT Greece or Iliria/Albania but few nations inside it. Well if double headed eagle was has true greek origin, i am sure that Greeks WOULD NEVER give it up. But since they not using it, means something
